Republican Party to Become Two in 2017

Priebus

For nearly a year-and-a-half I have predicted that the Republican Party would split into two or maybe even three separate entities. Now one mainstream media person agrees with me.

Friday on ‘CBS This Morning,’ Bob Schieffer, former host of ‘Face the Nation,’ said the following:

“I tell you I’m not ready to predict this yet, but I think it is entirely possible that the Republican Party could break in half after this,” Schieffer said. “I mean, I don’t know if that is going to happen, but I think there is now a possibility of that.”

Less informed politicos give Donald Trump far too much credit for the implosion of the GOP. It began during the Bush Administration, and became a serious problem in 2010 with the rise of the TEA Party. This, combined with extremely poor leadership in the House and Senate; John Boehner and Mitch McConnell; allowed a small group of extremists to divide the party. Add to this an unqualified Chairman of the RNC, Reince Priebus, and the foundation for its destruction was complete.

Extremism is destructive and never creative. There are those in the Republican Party who would be far more moderate without the influence of the obstructionists.

It is highly possible that one party could become three. Ted Cruz is the leader of a faction which is so far to the right they have become reactionaries and thrive on support from the extremist Christian religious right, and the one-percent.

The Koch brothers have funded a political machine larger than the RNC. They have been planning to create a party completely under their control for nearly ten years. They now employ approximately 1,200 people across the nation.

The 2016 campaign season has revealed great change in our political system. Our government is no longer a Democratic Republic, it is an oligarchy, moving closer to a plutocracy.

Donald Trump is merely the spawn of a failing GOP.
