When politicians attack each other, they should probably think before the say something which can ‘bite them in the ass.’ Marco Rubio lost badly to Donald Trump in South Carolina, and is behind both Trump and Ted Cruz in the Nevada polls, the state which will hold its GOP caucus on Tuesday.
Rubio’s desperation is showing, and it isn’t pretty or very smart.
In recent weeks we have seen proof that Rubio is not the most intelligent offering from the GOP. Chris Christie made him look foolish in their eighth faux-debate. Today, his attacks on Trump are foolhardy. Why? Because everything he is saying about Trump could be said about him; he is not qualified or experienced enough to lead our nation.
“If you’re running to be president of the United States, you can’t just tell people you’re going to make America great again – I think you need to begin to explain exactly how you’re going to do it, policy-wise,” Rubio said, referring to the Trump campaign slogan “Make America Great Again!”
All politicians are fond of slogans which say nothing, and Rubio is just as guilty as Trump. He has no substance, and his rhetoric lacks specifics. Rubio’s favorite motto is that he is ‘the one who can beat Hillary.’ If he were to win the GOP nomination, he will be exposed for what he is, and he couldn’t beat Martin O’Malley who is no longer running.
“I don’t think he fundamentally understands exactly who Vladimir Putin is and or exactly what he’s trying to do,” Rubio said, quickly adding, “This is not an attack or anything of that nature.”
If it’s not an attack, what is it? And what would Rubio know about national security or international relations? He isn’t present in the Senate 40 percent of the time.
What accomplishments has the junior senator from Florida produced? No one can name a single issue which Rubio could add to his resume.
When it comes to domestic issues, Rubio offered a tax plan which would be an enormous gift to the one-percent. He continually flip-flops on immigration reform; no one knows where he stands today. And he continues to support the TEA Party policy of not negotiating with Democrats, which is the prime reason our government is in gridlock.
Both Rubio and Cruz have attacked Trump for ‘not being conservative enough.’ In other words, he is not an extremist; the same group which destroyed our Democratic Republic in favor of an oligarchy.
The truth is that Rubio is part of the establishment. What he doesn’t understand is that any candidate who is now a sitting member of Congress cannot defeat Trump. They are the guilty party, and Trump supporters want them out of Washington.
As Edith Ann used to say: “And that’s the truth.” (Okay, many of you are too young to remember the Lily Tomlin character; and I don’t apologize!
