Mitt Romney made a desperate attempt to remain in the public eye on Thursday. He was joined by the man who failed his presidential bid in 2008, John McCain, who denounced Donald Trump as unfit to be our nation’s president, based on his lack of knowledge regarding national security. But the truth is that Cruz and Rubio are identical in that aspect. They have spent their time in the Senate attempting to destroy our American way of life and the government which supports it. They know nothing about international relations.
Let’s be truthful here. McCain failed miserably in 2008 because he selected a running mate who was not only unqualified, but became an embarrassment to our nation. Romney was exposed as a man who joined the Ronald Reagan belief that the working class was meant to be subservient to the wealthy. Neither man would have supported the majority of the American people.
Trump has been described in many ways. His supporters claim that he ‘tells it like it is,’ and his detractors say that he is ‘bat s**t crazy.’ The truth is somewhere in between. Is he a great choice for the presidency? I don’t believe so. Is he the best that the GOP has to offer? Probably.
The problem is that in the beginning of this long campaign season, 17 presidential wannabees tossed their hats in the ring. Close scrutiny revealed the fact that not one of them were qualified to lead our nation.
Today there are only four men left in the clown car, and only one of them has any qualifications necessary to be our president.
John Kasich has the experience, but does not support the principles of the majority of Americans. However, he is the only adult in the room during Republican ‘debates.’
The purpose of a debate is to give voters an opportunity to learn where the candidates stand on the issues. After eleven debacles, no one knows where Cruz and Rubio stand on a single domestic issue with the exception of taxes; both would give additional gifts to the one-percent. Eleven times the American people have witnessed a schoolyard brawl. The only logical conclusion is that none of them deserve our vote.
Super Tuesday condemned the Republican Party. It signaled the fact that they will once again lose the general election, but that is far from the greater concern.
It is almost guaranteed that the GOP will split into several factions. Those who continue to believe in a Democratic Republic will separate themselves from the extremists who refuse to deliberate and compromise. The TEA Party was never intended to remain under the Republican banner. The Koch brothers have already instituted a national organization to insure that it is a party unto itself. Religious extremists may seek a separate identity. They will become America’s al-Qaeda; radicals who seek Christianity as the only religion of our nation.
It seems impossible, but our next president will face an even greater challenge than Barrack Obama inherited in 2009 when he took the oath of office. Without an effective two-party system, our government will continue to fail the American people. The children who now sit in the House and Senate will refuse to perform the jobs for which they were elected.
If there is a God, I pray that He or She will bless the United States of America; we need all the help we can get.
