Who Will Write the Eulogy?

Parties

There is no doubt that the GOP is imploding, but without leadership, who will say a few words of truth about the reasons? I doubt if any Republican politician will tell the truth; everyone wants to blame Trump.

Here are a few headlines in ‘Google’ today.

“Republican Party in suicidal tailspin over Donald Trump’s unstoppable rise.”

“Republican Party’s splinter took seed in opposition to all things Obama.”

“A Republican party torn by Trump’s unstoppable rise struggles to find unity.”

“For the Republican party, it’s Trumpocalypse Now.”

Some may not agree that the Republican Party of today is not salvageable; they would be sorely mistaken. Trump is merely the result of a party which has failed voters for nearly eight years. There are multiple reasons why the GOP will splinter, but I will only write about the major causes; the number of facts is far too great.

Regardless of whether the nomination in July is bestowed upon Trump or Cruz, Republican voters will not be pleased. Trump supporters are extremely displeased with their elected officials, and see him as a symbol of their anger.

If Cruz is the winner, it is highly unlikely that Trump supporters will go the polls in numbers which have been inspired by the real estate mogul. Cruz is disliked by nearly everyone in Washington, and has the complete support of only one bloc; the Christian religious right. His obstructionist tactics are the prime reason and proof that the TEA Party has destroyed the Republican Party.

Neither candidate will receive enthusiastic support from party leadership. Their plan was to have Marco Rubio win the nomination; their least favorite presidential hopefuls remain Trump and Cruz.

The GOP is completely divided between Trump supporters, and everyone else. Even FOX Noise entertainers cannot agree about a candidate.

A few days ago Mitt Romney made a very ignorant decision, when he agreed to denounce Trump. He didn’t cause any harm to Trump’s campaign, but he did cement the divisions within the party.

The bottom line is that those in the GOP who consider themselves leaders are not the ‘sharpest tools in the shed.’ After the 2012 election promises were made to the Republican faithful; none of which surfaced.

If the truth is told, it is of little consequence. Those who call themselves Republicans today have no similarity to past presidents who served the American people well, including Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and George H.W. Bush.

The Republican Party must be rebuilt with principle and a moral compass. Our government cannot be effective without deliberation and compromise; two non-existent talents during the last eight years.
