Today is Another Day for Republican Failure

Unqualified

Today three states are holding primaries for the Republican Party, and Hawaii will caucus. Idaho reveals an eleven-point lead for Trump over Cruz. Michigan gives Trump a twelve-point lead over Kasich, and eighteen-points over Cruz. In Mississippi, Trump’s margin is 24 points. There are no polls from Hawaii.

The reality for the Republican establishment is that Rubio is far behind in every poll. It matters little if Trump or Cruz experience victories today, Rubio will continue to perspire as the Florida primary moves closer. In just one week Rubio could suffer a blow which would dash his hope for the GOP nomination.

Currently Rubio is trailing Trump by nearly 15 points in the Sunshine State; Cruz is lagging far behind. Also significant is the Ohio primary. Governor John Kasich trails Trump by four points in his own state, while Cruz once again is far behind. This event also occurs on March 15th.

Although today it is apparent that the contest has become a two-man race, one week from today will define the future of the party. It looks bleak for those who consider themselves mainstream Republicans.

The truth is that they are not listening to voters. Republican supporters are angry. They are speaking loudly, but GOP leadership is ignoring them. Rubio is not the answer. When he was ordered to attack Trump, he simply made a fool of himself. It is apparent that he is not the ‘sharpest tool in the shed,’ and has never heard the adage that you never wrestle with a pig; ‘you both get dirty and the pig likes it.’

The truth be told, the GOP failed to offer a single candidate who impressed the electorate. Not a single idea involving domestic issues was offered in eleven debates with the exception of ‘tax reform,’ and those proposals were defined as ‘gifts to the wealthiest Americans.’

Whether Trump or Cruz are successful today is unimportant. With wins by either candidate, the Republican Party will suffer. No one represents the legacy of past great Republicans. The GOP is left with extremists who profess their belief in prejudice, religious elitism, and support of the one-percent.

The fat lady is warming up.
