One Chance to Stop Republican Party’s Destruction

Clinton and Trump

Beginning in August of last year, through last night’s primaries and caucuses, Republican leadership has attempted to stop Donald Trump’s campaign. With assistance from FOX Noise President Roger Ailes and his stooges, the first of eleven fake debates was focused directly on destroying Trump.

What happened the next day has been repeated ten more times; Trump’s poll numbers rose. Although after last evening it became obvious that the GOP race for the nomination is now between two men, Trump and Cruz, Rubio and Kasich said that they will continue their campaigns. In truth, it is a one-man race; if the polls are even somewhat accurate, Donald Trump will receive a sufficient number of delegates to win the nomination outright.

For Republicans, the worst situation is the apparent implosion within the party. At least five factions are involved in an internal war of words. If they were honest, they would understand what the voting public is attempting to tell them; they don’t want any of you.

Conservatives have become extremists, and the other splinter groups are all like children; they want everything their own way. Lost is the GOP’s ability and desire to deliberate and compromise.

There is only one way to save the Republican Party. As it has in the past, it must support the front runner, even if that person is Donald Trump.

Unfortunately, they don’t believe in the old adage; “if you can’t beat them, join them.”

I believe that the GOP establishment not only has no concern for the majority of the American people, their arrogance denies them the ability to understand where support for their party exists. Voters have finally spoken loudly and are telling the party’s leaders that they must abide by the wishes and needs of the majority and deny special interests.

If Republicans fail to unite behind Trump, the November election will be a sham. Voter turnout will be minimal, and a large turnout by Democratic and Independent voters will sweep Hillary Clinton into the White House.

The most ignorant option, offered by the GOP elite, is to have a ‘brokered convention.’ If Trump supporters are ignored, they will choose not to vote for the establishment’s choice. That would be a loss of approximately 45 percent of right wing voters.

A party divided cannot stand; and the GOP is splintered; most likely beyond repair. By setting a president; uniting to defeat their leading candidate; they are ignoring right wing voters. Republican supporters are being told: “We don’t care who or what you want, we run the party, and we’ll do it our way.” The problem is; they’ll be running a party of losers.

No American in their right mind can Support all of Trump’s rants. However, he has spoken to the concerns of his supporters and addresses the issues. And occasionally he is 100 percent correct. His rejection of the Republican fiscal policy of trickle-down economics, and criticism of trade agreements which harm the working class, are extremely sound.

My final observation is simple; does anyone truly believe that Cruz or Rubio would be great leaders and represent all of the American people? I think not.
