Republican establishment figures must now surrender. Their efforts to defeat Donald Trump’s run for the GOP presidential nomination have completely failed. Trump crushed his opponents in both Mississippi and Michigan last evening, and as a bonus won Hawaii.
Ted Cruz won in the radical and religious extremist state of Idaho, but Marco Rubio did not obtain a single delegate from the four contests.
This morning it is rumored that Rubio is ‘talking with his advisors.’ The most embarrassing fact is that he is losing in his home state of Florida to Trump by nearly 15 points. Whether or not the young senator remains in the contest after Tuesday’s disaster, if he loses Florida, ‘the party’s over.’
“I hope Republicans will embrace it,” Trump said of his campaign. “We have something going that is so good, we should grab each other and unify the party.”
Much to the dismay of Republican leadership, Trump won in virtually every demographic, including evangelicals, and conservatives. Ted Cruz failed to challenge Trump in Mississippi, and barely edged out Kasich for second place in Michigan by .6 percent.
For Democrats, Bernie Sanders’ win in Michigan is more symbolic than ‘campaign changing.’ Even after 92 percent of the vote was in, it remained ‘too close to call.’
The polls had Clinton 21 points ahead in yesterday’s contest. The final was Sanders 49.9 percent, and Clinton 48.2 percent. The delegates awarded each candidate are 65 and 58 respectively; Clinton holds a very large lead in total delegates.
It’s on the Ohio and Florida next Tuesday. Clinton holds a 20-point lead in Ohio and nearly 30 in Florida. Will the polls be more accurate next week?
For Republicans, Trump leads Kasich in his home state of Ohio by nearly five points, while Cruz remains a distant third. In Florida, Trump’s lead over Rubio is nearly 15 points, and 22 points over Cruz.
Is there any way to imagine that November’s election will not feature Clinton and Trump?
There is one way; if the GOP leadership ‘brokers’ the convention in July. That would completely destroy what is left of the Republican Party.
