Republican Convention Could Be Another Raucous ‘Debate’

GOP 2012

If you enjoyed the first eleven Republican faux-debates, (the 12th was a ‘snooze-fest’), you might want to watch the Republican Convention which takes place in Cleveland, Ohio, July 18-21.

I’m going to call this year’s Republican’s fiasco of a campaign season “Trumpaganza.” Whether or not he secures the needed delegates before the start of the convention is immaterial. His supporters will be there, and they are angry at the establishment.

Now add to that the expected huge protests outside of the ‘Quicken Loans Arena.’ Black Lives Matter’ is expected to be there in force. The Cleveland Police Department has one of the worst records in the nation regarding excessive force against blacks compared to whites.

And don’t forget about Flint, Michigan. It is only 225 miles away from Cleveland, and they remain incensed at Republican Governor,
Rick Snyder. A group of protestors representing the people of Flint is likely to be large and boisterous.

On the floor of the convention, I expect to see utter chaos. Speakers will be booed off of the stage, and the decibel level will increase with each voice in opposition to other voices. It will be divided between supporters of Ted Cruz, the old guard, supporting Rubio, and the angry voices of the Trump faithful. Don’t be surprised if there is as much physicality among protestors inside the convention as outside.

If the end of the GOP has not culminated before July, it will surely happen then.

If the leadership of the Republican Party attempts to select their own candidate and deny the results of the primaries, many may walk out of the convention before it ends.

If you enjoyed the debates, which were no more than schoolyard brawls, you will love the convention. It will not be civil, but it might be a war.
