Millennials Will Vote Democratic

Vile Man

If the election in November is between Donald Trump, and Hillary Clinton, millennials will vote for Clinton. Although their candidate of choice is Bernie Sanders, a recent poll shows that they would favor Hillary before Trump, and the margin isn’t even close; 52-19 percent.

Those under 35 do not respect or believe in Trump.

“Trump would kind of make a mockery out of America,” worries Cameron Lee Craig, 25, a stay-at-home mom from Amelia, Ohio, who was among those surveyed. “He’s kind of a jerk.”

A 21-year-old from California explains her support for Sanders, she also explained why she would prefer Clinton over Trump.

“He’s a people-person and will bring a freshness to the country,” Tracy Wanjiku, 21, a caregiver from Alameda, Calif., says in explaining her support for Sanders. But in a Clinton-Trump stand-off in November, she says, “I would vote for Hillary — not that I’m in much favor of her, but I think Donald Trump … his idea of politics is way too over-the-top. It’s scary, to be honest.”

Sometimes old farts such as myself discount the thinking process of our young people; big mistake.

So what demographic composes the supporters of Donald Trump? They are mostly white; fewer women than men; they are middle-aged and middle income; educational levels are primarily below college level. Sounds a lot like the Republican base to me.

If Trump is on the ballot in November, who will vote for him? His demographics are limited, and he insists on alienating more Americans every week.

Is this a rejection of the Republican Party by its base? And where are the ‘new Republicans?’ If they’re not millennials, minorities, or women, who can they be?

Donald Trump may win the GOP nomination, but the future of the party is in question. It is doubtful that he can unify it, but that same claim is attributable to the other candidates as well.
