Republican Party is Broken and Can’t Be Fixed

There are five Republican primaries on this Tuesday. The polls reveal that with the exception of Ohio, where John Kasich is the Governor, Donald Trump has sizeable leads in all of the other four, including Marco Rubio’s home state of Florida. It is very likely that Trump will win the GOP nomination for the presidency. But I am here to tell you that it doesn’t matter.

The only thing that is of importance in the 2016 campaign season is the fate of the once Grand Old Party. I refuse to get into a discussion about how Trump has harmed the Republican Party. He is only the result of nearly eight years of failed GOP leadership. What I fear the most is that the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower will fade away, and a new extreme and un-American group will replace those who cared about our nation and its people in the past.

There is a list of those who failed the Republican Party; some are elected officials, and some are ‘Pretend-Republicans’ who used the party for their own personal gain, and in reality had no connection to the once respectable GOP.

The two men who began its destruction are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Their actions desecrated the respect of the American people for a party which was once principled and served all Americans. Lies and deception cost our nation lives and moved it into bankruptcy. We must not forget Karl Rove, who was the architect of the vile Bush campaigns.

After our nation elected a black president, the party of racists and bigots promised to destroy him, and declared that they would do nothing else until that was accomplished. John Boehner and Mitch McConnell allowed their party to become a group of obstructionists and destroyed our democracy. They received the approval of Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the RNC.

After President Obama was reelected in 2012, the initial response by Republican leadership was that they must change and move into the 21st century. Instead, it began to move backwards towards the mid-twentieth century.

In 2013 the most extreme member of the TEA Party took the oath of office, which he dismissed immediately. Ted Cruz began to make efforts to achieve his own ambitions. He led the fight which shut down our government, and attempted to make our legislature completely dysfunctional.

Throughout all that was occurring in Washington, we mustn’t forget other subversives who led the effort to destroy the Republican Party. FOX Noise pundits Bill O’Reilly, and Sean Hannity cannot be forgotten. Neither can opportunists Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Sarah Palin be ignored for their seeds of fear and hatred among the American people.

Now that we are in another election year, new villains have been added to the GOP. Leading them is Donald Trump, who has revealed the truth about the Republican Party; it is racist, bigoted, and seeks to destroy the Constitution and the American way of life.

If you watched the Republican “debates,” you witnessed the worst of the GOP. Anger dominated the events, while intelligence left the building. Until the 12th, all eleven could not be called ‘debates,’ they were nothing more than schoolyard brawls.

How can this shattered party be repaired? The many factions which took years to splinter the GOP will not support other groups within the party. The convention in July will be a revelation to some, but to most of us it will simply be the culmination of what began years ago.
