Throughout the last seven-and-one-half years the Republican Party has attempted to alter the Constitution to serve their own ambitions. They approved the virtual repeal of the fourth amendment, are challenging the 14th, and seek modification of the first amendment to appease their supporters.
Today Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who will be known in history as the worst party leader in history, wants to deny the Constitutional right of President Obama to nominate a Supreme Court Justice.
Let’s be perfectly clear; multiple presidents have nominated Justices in their final year in office; this is not an unusual event. But McConnell continues his obstructionist efforts, which he began in 2009. He is not asking, he is demanding, that no Justice be nominated until after the November election. He is once again displaying his racism and lack of concern for the American people. His efforts would ensure that the Court will be dysfunctional until the spring of 2017.
The wisdom of past national leaders decided that the Supreme Court should be composed of nine members. There would be no ties in the decisions of Constitutional issues facing the Court.
If the Court continues with eight members and ties occur, the cases before them may never be heard again due to time constraints from a huge workload. This is not American; and this cannot be tolerated.
The American people must demand that Republican politicians perform the jobs for which they were elected. For more than seven years they have not accomplished a single positive goal demanded by the citizens of our nation.
America cannot exist as an oligarchy. Our people expect deliberation and compromise to solve problems as they have for nearly 240 years. We cannot allow a small group of extremists to control our government.
Stand up for your country; you have the power to take it back. Become an Independent and elect the best and most qualified candidates whether they are Republicans or Democrats. TEA Party candidates must be rejected.
