Republicans would like you to believe that no other president in history has nominated a Supreme Court Justice during his final year in office; that’s a blatant lie. This same situation has occurred several times throughout our nation’s history. This is merely one more effort at obstructionism; Mitch McConnell’s only talent.
Judge Merrick Garland is a moderate, much like Justice Anthony Kennedy. Isn’t this what our founding fathers intended for the Supreme Court? It was never meant to be politicized.
Here is the one fact which exposes Republican obstructionism. If our nation is forced to wait until the November election, the Supreme Court will not be a fully functioning body for nearly one year. That is not the American way.
Although 57 percent of Americans believe that a new justice should be appointed as quickly as possible, Republicans deny the wishes of the people; again. Conservatives are hoping against reality that an extremist such as Ted Cruz will win in November and appoint another radical such as Scalia. They want to keep the Court unbalanced towards the far right. Their purpose is to support the one-percent and deny the rights of most of the American people.
If you disagree with me, you’d better research some of the Court’s history. Scalia ruled in favor of every conservative case brought before the Court; he never once aligned himself with the working class or minorities.
There will be two positive results from continued Republican obstructionism; Hillary Clinton will be swept into office, and Democrats will gain seats in the Senate.
Are there any intelligent Congressmen on the right side of the aisle? It doesn’t appear so.
