I have always maintained the fact that today’s Republican Party has little or no concern for the American people. The legislation they pass, which is minimal, and the legislation they reject both prove the truth, that they continually fail those who elected them. For more than seven years they have refused to work across the aisle for the benefit of the American people.
This campaign season must force even the most loyal party members to admit that Republicans place their party before America, and the majority of our nation’s people.
Attacks by establishment Republicans against Donald Trump include revelations other than their fear that a non-traditional Republican may win the party’s nomination. They fear that the party ‘will be damaged.’ Really? I’ll discuss this more later.
Just today other Republican leaders have enforced my claim that they support the party before our nation’s people. Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio have offered their support for Ted Cruz, although both have frequently made statements which stated their opposition to the junior Senator from Texas based on his lack of qualifications and extremist views. Their belief that Trump ‘must be defeated’ places the party’s future ahead of the future of our nation.
Adding to the open display of disregard for the American people in the party’s nomination, is the situation in the Senate. Mitch McConnell is leading Republicans in his attempts to create a dysfunctional Supreme Court, once again proving that party supersedes the needs of our nation.
Now, back to Trump’s ‘damage’ to the Republican Party. Are these men that ignorant, or are they simply lying to the American people as they attempt to deny the facts? Trump is the result of the party’s past failures. If they want to denounce someone, denounce Republican voters who support him. Nearly 40 percent of registered GOP voters have displayed their anger at the establishment, and moved into Trump’s camp.
They must accept the blame for their party’s current situation. Supporting Cruz is a slap in the face of the American people. His extremism was unacceptable to the establishment until he became their only opportunity to defeat Trump.
Neither Trump nor Cruz would be acceptable to the American people as our nation’s leader. However, that is of no concern to Republicans; if he is a member of the GOP, they will call him the greatest president in our nation’s history.
Throughout history it has been said that all governments are bad; some are a little less damaging than others. I completely agree with that statement, but I also believe that all political parties are bad for the people, but only one recognizes the fact that they have been or will be in office thanks to the electorate.
When the American people become an afterthought to the party, we have definitive proof that that party must be destroyed. Thanks to Republican failures, they have destroyed their own party.
If Trump wins or loses, the party will experience the same result; implosion. The convention in July will be a ‘three ring circus.’ The participants will consist of an angry and boisterous crowd. They may actually be more volatile and reach higher decibel levels than the expected protestors outside Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena.
By the way, you get to watch this circus for free!
