More Proof that the NRA Owns the Republican Party: (Let’s make Charlton Heston Proud)

Heston

Not even the most loyal Republican can now deny that special interests trump the needs of the American people. The GOP is owned by our wealthiest citizens, and bows to the wishes of these greedy billionaires while ignoring a growing income inequality, and the elimination of the middle class. Poverty is rising, and they simply don’t give a damn.

Mitch McConnell has repeatedly stated that no individual would be considered to fill the empty seat on the Supreme Court until the November election is decided. He has blatantly lied and denied precedent, and the need for a fully functioning Court.

But today he exposed himself for what he is; a tool of the gun lobby. He has openly stated that the NRA, a tool of gun manufacturers and gun sellers, would decide who would become the next Justice. McConnell said that he “can’t imagine that a Republican majority in the United States Senate would want to confirm, in a lame duck session, a nominee opposed by the National Rifle Association [and] the National Federation of Independent Businesses.”

“The Turtle” may not have to worry about that situation. His obstructionism helped create Donald Trump, and may be the primary reason why Democrats will regain the Senate in November.

Many Americans who do not follow politics closely continue to ask why our government is broken; now they know why. Lobbyists pay for Republican candidate’s elections. They owe their allegiance to big business and not to those who voted for them.

McConnell supports the NRA, which is opposed to American ideals. It seeks privileges for ten percent of the American people and the denial of the majority’s rights to safety and freedom.

Until 1977 the NRA was the nation’s largest supporter of gun safety, and actually wrote most of the gun laws passed by Congress. Today it is nothing more than a lobby for an industry which stashes away billions of dollars a year, and has no concern for human life.

Considering the infighting within the GOP, and the anger and resentment permeating within the party, I would ask the NRA to do the American people a favor. Once inside Quicken Loans Arena, offer every conventioneer a loaded weapon. Then we can sit back and enjoy the carnage. We no longer want to hear words; let’s see some real action. Charlton Heston would be proud.
