Ted Cruz says that he would ‘carpet bomb’ ISIS locations. Donald Trump would send at least 20,000 troops into the area, and ‘bomb the hell out of them.’ Military leaders called both suggestions ‘careless, and unrealistic.’
Carpet bombing would murder thousands of innocent men, women, and children; it is a reckless and thoughtless idea. We constantly receive proof that Cruz knows nothing about international relations and military action.
America cannot win a ground war in the Middle East; we have far too much proof of that fact. If Trump reads the news, he must know that the U.S. and its allies are ‘bombing the hell out of them.’
Trump and Cruz would like the American people to believe that they are the only ones who seek the destruction of ISIS. President Obama, speaking in Argentina, stressed that his priority was to defeat ISIS, or ISIL.
“We will also continue to go after ISIL, aggressively, until it is removed from Syria and removed from Iraq, and is finally destroyed.” Obama said. “We can and we will defeat those who threaten the safety and security not only of our own people, but of people all around the world.”
Meanwhile, Cruz and Trump continue their attempts to spread Islamophobia. On “CBS This Morning” Wednesday, Cruz suggested ‘patrolling areas in the United States occupied by Muslims.’ Nora O’Donnell asked him how many Muslims live in America; as usual Cruz had no answer to a direct question. She continued to question Cruz regarding Constitutional rights and his nearly impossible idea.
Trump continues to demand that all Muslims be prevented from entering the United States.
ISIS cannot be defeated by the United States alone. This requires a concerted effort by all nations in the region with a single goal; obliterate this gang of thugs and murderers.
If Cruz and Trump are serious about national security, why do they refuse to support the prevention of individuals on the ‘no-fly’ list from purchasing guns? They can legally walk into any gun shop and buy assault rifles with high-output magazines. Trump and Cruz support the NRA and fail to face reality.
The most important facts ignored by Trump and Cruz are the dangers within our own shores; and terrorism is not the most hazardous.
Millions of hard-working Americans are facing the loss of their quality of life as income inequality grows. The middle class is disappearing, and the numbers of those living at the poverty level grows with every day. Racism is on the rise. Politicians have divided our nation’s people; their plan to obtain elections by a ‘divide and conquer’ strategy has worked for far too many years. Women have been relegated to a position of ‘second-class’ citizens.
ISIS can be defeated, but not without assistance from the nations of the Middle East. Trump and Cruz do not believe in diplomacy; they are hawks, and hawks have forced our people into unwinnable wars and a near depression in the recent past.
We must have an intelligent and thoughtful president leading our nation. We must not allow radicals and extremists to continue their dominance over the people of the United States.
