The Republican Establishment Created “Trumpenstein”

Ignorance breed ignorance

Those of you who read my rants regularly are undoubtedly tired of my explanation for the success of Donald Trump. I contend that either Trump’s supporters are the very worst of the American people, or they are displaying their anger with the Republican establishment, which has failed them for the past ten years. I believe the latter is the primary reason Trump has been leading in the polls for most of the last nine months, but I could be wrong. They may actually represent today’s Republican electorate.

Let’s be real; Trump makes no sense, says nothing, and has no understanding of foreign relations or how to repair our nation’s domestic problems. To put it bluntly, he is a buffoon.

The media continually talks about the 2016 campaign season and how ‘unique’ it is. They won’t use the proper words; it’s disgusting and an embarrassment to the United States of America, and that means to its people; we already knew that our government was despicable. Is it presidential to talk about the size of a candidate’s penis? Is it presidential to attack each other personally and avoid the issues? Is it presidential to attack the personal life of each other’s wives? Is it presidential to encourage violence towards protestors who disagree with your racist and bigoted rhetoric?

Donald Trump is the Republican Party’s ‘Frankenstein.’ He was created by the party’s leaders who were in fact not leaders at all. The party has had no direction for ten years. Boehner and McConnell allowed a small party of extremists to rule over the majority. Reince Priebus broke his promise after the 2012 election, stating that the GOP would change and appeal to other demographics than older white men.

Led by McConnell and Ted Cruz, the Republican Party accomplished nothing during the seven-plus years Barrack Obama has been in office. Just the opposite was the focus of these failed senators; they attempted to repeal healthcare for all Americans more than 50 times. McConnell began a campaign in 2009 to insure that President Obama only served one term. How did that work out? Cruz led the effort which shut down our government. Today McConnell is intent upon making the Supreme Court dysfunctional for a year. These are the ‘accomplishments’ of seven years of Republican failures.

And along came Trump. A short time after he declared his candidacy, he became the leader in the polls. Republican leaders feigned surprise. His rhetoric was vile and a rejection of American values, but he accomplished two important things; he was saying something, unlike the establishment candidates; and he revealed the real Republican Party at its lowest level.

It is likely that Trump will receive the 1,237 delegates needed before the convention begins on July 18th in Cleveland. The question is, will the party allow him to receive the nomination?

Republican leadership continues to deny their role in the creation of “Trumpenstein;” but the facts are there, and the voters have spoken.

Sadly, for the Republican faithful, and Independents such as myself, the GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, a first term Ronald Reagan, or of George H.W. Bush. It has become the party of jesters and ambitious men and women who support special interests. This is a party of men and women who would vote for the devil if they could retain power in Washington. Not one of them cares about the American people; they serve in Washington for their own financial gain and power.
