They extremist right wing rag ‘Breitbart’ is complaining about the upcoming HBO film “Confirmation.” It reveals the facts behind the confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas in 1991, and the reason for his allegiance to the Republican Party. It also contains additional information regarding his alleged sexual harassment of Anita Hill.

This movie comes at a time when Mitch McConnell is refusing to hold confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland, who is considered a moderate, and far less biased than Thomas.

Conservatives view this movie as an attack on the right wing, just as they did when HBO released ‘Game Change,’ a critique of John McCain and his controversial choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. Republicans claim that both films contain misinformation. You must be the judge, but HBO is constantly commended for its research and for exposing the truth.

“HBO made this movie in an election year to support Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party, which loves to claim that a mythical ‘war on women’ is underway by Republicans,” Mark Paoletta, a Bush administration lawyer who was involved in the hearings, told the Hollywood Reporter.

One thing we can count on is a ‘pack of lies’ from Republicans. If Republicans are not waging a war on women, why do the vote against every piece of legislation which would positively affect them? Why do they support a religious group and not the Constitution in its attempts to control a woman’s rights to her own body? Why won’t they support an increase in the minimum wage which would assist many poor and single mothers? Why would they seek the passage of laws which would save the fetus and allow the death of the mother in situations of life or death at birth?

Clarence Thomas was not only unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court; he was guilty of criminal action towards Ms. Hill. Right wing complaints center around the legacy of former Senators John Danforth and Alan Simpson. They were responsible for forcing the confirmation of Thomas.

The legacy of this confirmation has been extremely harmful to the working class, and especially damaging to poor women. Thomas sided with Antonin Scalia on every issue, never in support of progressive measures; they both supported conservatives 100 percent of the time, and placed black marks on the integrity of the Court.

Simpson whined: “You really picked on and piled s—t on the wrong guy,” Simpson wrote. “Jack Danforth is one of the most prominent figures in American political life. “If the intent of your HBO film was not to defame, embarrass, belittle and ridicule him, you sure as hell did a beautiful job anyway.”

Republicans hate the truth; they are unable to defend themselves when it is exposed 100 percent of the time.

HBO films president Len Amato admitted that when previews were shown, some changes were made to accommodate individuals depicted in the film, but that none of them were ‘politically motivated.’

“We measure their input against the research we’ve done, and against our sourcing, and if we think someone makes a point that’s valid, we make an adjustment,” Amato told THR.

I believe we only need to look at the situation in the imploding Republican Party to understand which entity is more respected. HBO consistently wins awards for its docudramas, and is praised for its detailed and comprehensive research. Trump and Cruz thrive on lies, accusations, and misdirection.
