I read something today which offers me some hope; hope for our nation and its people. Since 2000 I have been forced to listen to, or hear about one politico or another who lied to the American people and used fear and hatred for their own fame and fortune. One of the greatest perpetrators of this type of action came onto the political scene in 2008.
Sarah Palin was an embarrassment to all intelligent humans. Her supporters were either just as ignorant or shared her bigoted and hateful rhetoric, and had found their leader. “Caribou Barbie” is nothing but an opportunist. Once a leader of the TEA Party, she is now supporting Trump, a complete outsider who shares her sub-level intelligence quotient.
Friday evening Palin was speaking at a Republican event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was there to support her new ‘beau.’ If her reception was any indication of what will happen on Tuesday, Trump must expect a ‘huuuuge’ loss. After a lackluster greeting by the crowd, they remained expressionless as she attempted to charm those in attendance.
This is what she should expect. America is fed up with emotional instability and expressions which make no sense; she is not cute any longer.
This gives me hope. Are the American people becoming smarter? Will Republican voters shun those in their midst who spread lies, and have no abilities in the political genre, including Rush Limbaugh, Rudy Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter, Michelle Bachman, and Glenn Beck, just to name a few?
I have never been able to understand why these self-serving men and women receive any respect from their constituents. Intelligence must be respected, and opportunists debunked. Trump and Palin are a comedy team which makes mean-spirited and humorless jokes.
If they represent the Republican Party of today, I encourage all loyal members of the GOP to renounce them. It’s time to be an Independent and vote for the best candidate, not for a party.
I seldom make predictions this far ahead of time. I was right about Bush, Rubio, and Carson, but their future was never in doubt. Rubio had opportunities, but he didn’t work hard enough, he was a poor campaigner, and at the end he made the critical mistake of attempting to copy Trump’s tactics, resulting in an embarrassing loss in his home state of Florida. But I am ready to state something I am very positive about, seven months before it will happen.
Donald Trump will not be the 45th president of the United States. If Republican leadership doesn’t stop him, voters in November will.
However, the alternative is nearly as frightening. Ted Cruz has views of “his own America.” They are not the views of our founding fathers, or most loyal Americans. They defy the Constitution, and belittle the working class. They are based on the Christian religion, and he would not represent all of the American people.
Nearly 65 million Americans deny any association with religion; and that number is growing. The number of those who call themselves Christian is diminishing, while the numbers of Muslims and atheists are on the rise.
As the failed members of the GOP disappear from public view, a new and younger group of Americans will be in power. They reject prejudice and capitalism. Whether you or I approve of the changes taking place in the next 20 to 30 years, they will happen.
The United States of America will eventually move forward into the 21st century.
