If you claim to be a Republican, I must first do two things: I must apologize for what I am about to say, and secondly I feel it necessary to give you my pity and sincere condolences for what has happened to the once Grand Old Party.
States in the control of Republican Governors face embarrassment, attacks of racial prejudice, and a questionable economic future. But one stands above all others; Alabama.
Alabama is the most corrupt state in the union. It has won the title from former standard bearers such as Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. It is also the most racist, bigoted, homophobic, misogynist, and hypocritical state in the land.
Southern governors claim that family values and morality are the core precepts by which they live their lives, and govern their states. They hold up the Bible, but what they don’t tell you is that the book has been hollowed out, and inside the covers are pornographic pictures; sometimes of minor children.
Take the case of Alabama Governor, Robert Bentley. He is accused of having illicit relations with a staffer, after a tape recording was recently revealed. The people of Alabama want the 73-year-old hypocrite to resign or be impeached.
Bentley has refused to resign, and now it’s up to the Speaker of the House to initiate the articles of impeachment. But, there’s a huge problem.
Mike Hubbard is currently serving as the Speaker. He is facing 23 counts regarding federal corruption charges. No one is certain of his ability to perform his job fully as he is preparing for a future court date.
Okay, let’s say that he, or the members of the House, find a way to construct the impeachment papers for Bentley, and he undergoes a trial. Presiding over the proceedings would be the Chief Justice of Alabama’s Supreme Court, Roy Moore. But, there’s another problem.
Moore has once been removed from his position for ethics charges. He is presently facing federal indictment for rebuking a direct order from the nation’s highest court, the United States Supreme Court. He placed stone tablets depicting the ten commandments in the Supreme Court building, in violation of the first amendment to the Constitution, and will not remove them.
Now what does Alabama do? I will say one thing at this time: “Voters of Alabama, you elected them, and now you must suffer through these horrible times and endure the consequences.”
All of these men claim to be ‘good Christians,’ but in fact are hypocrites. They do not believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christ was not judgmental and did not believe in the communion of church and state.
In Matthew 22:21, Jesus was removing money changers from the temple. He spoke the following to the people:
“Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.”
Politics is the folly of man, not of God; they are not related in any fashion. An individual’s religious beliefs and practices must remain a personal and private situation, as they did for the first 220 years of our nation’s existence, and as our founding fathers intended.
Those who claim to be Christian are lying if they refuse to follow all of the teachings of Jesus Christ and not just the ones the find convenient.
