If politicos are attempting to hype next week’s New York primaries, don’t allow them to mislead you. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton maintains a sizeable lead. The same is true for Donald Trump on the Republican side. Let’s set the record straight, and talk about what is important.
First of all, I must tell you the truth about myself. I am a Bernie Sanders supporter. I have believed that a revolution is needed in America for nearly 20 years. The United States no longer represents the ideals of our founding fathers; it has basically devolved into a third world country, and is no longer a Democratic Republic; it is approaching a plutocracy. Our political system is corrupt. Politicians in Washington no longer represent the voters. Lobbyists tell them how to vote in exchange for huge campaign contributions. If you doubt this fact, look closely at the strong support Republicans display for the NRA and the Christian religious right among many others.
That said, the truth is that he cannot win the nomination. The race becomes a simple matter of mathematics. If Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders split every primary from now until the convention, Ms. Clinton cannot be defeated.
The Republican situation is far more complicated.
We all know that Republican leadership is making negative history by attempting to defeat its party’s front runner, Donald Trump. They would like you to believe that they support Ted Cruz; that’s a lie.
Ted Cruz is a tool of the Republican establishment. If they told the truth, they despise the radical Senator from Texas. He is being used to ensure that Trump does not obtain the 1,237 delegates needed to guarantee his nomination.
What the RNC is looking to achieve is a ‘contested,’ or ‘brokered’ convention. If no one has the necessary 1,237 delegates, the eventual nominee will be chosen by a small group of Republican leaders; they are not obligated to select either candidate.
The truth is that although the mainstream media would like you to believe that Cruz has a chance to defeat Hillary Clinton in November, that is not the truth, and the Republican establishment is fully aware of that fact.
Polls reveal that only Paul Ryan or the rejuvenation of Marco Rubio have any possibility of winning the presidency.
All of this will be accomplished in a legal, but also unethical manner. The voting public will be eliminated from choosing the candidate they want to represent them. The party elite will make the decision.
The last contested convention was in 1976. Pitted against each other were Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford. Reagan made speeches everywhere and anywhere party officials would allow him to. He lobbied every member of the party who had the ability to select the nominee. Ford’s camp responded in kind, and he eventually won the nomination.
Today, things are very different. Republican leadership has attempted to derail Donald Trump since August 6, 2015; it has failed miserably. However, at a contested convention, it is a guarantee that Trump will not receive the party’s blessings.
This will result in a loss for Republicans in November; Trump’s supporters have already promised that they will not support any other candidate. That means that whoever the party chooses to represent them in November will not receive as many as 40 percent of the Republican vote.
By displaying a lack of respect for voters by the GOP, Independents will go to the polls and support Hillary Clinton, regardless of who is selected by the establishment. Advantage; Democrats.
