Politicians have one thing in common; they are all arrogant and have an attitude of superiority. They believe that the American people are sheep, and will support them, even when they do not reciprocate. While they’re telling us what we believe, although the polls prove otherwise, we smirk and harbor some very nasty thoughts about their lack of character and their ignorance.
Examples are everywhere, and the following are just a few of the issues favored by the American people, but are not recognized by politicians.
More than 60 percent of voters favor some form of legal residence for nearly 12 million people living in the United States illegally. Immigration reform is considered a must, but not by Republicans.
An average of more than 50 percent of all Americans favor stricter gun laws. The percentages are far different between Republicans and Democrats; just over 35 percent of GOP voters believe in stricter regulations, while over 80 percent of Democrats want tougher laws. Most of both parties favor comprehensive background checks.
The approval of same-sex marriage is divided by age. Older Americans are less favorable, while millennials reveal nearly 80 percent approval. The average is 55 percent in favor.
The majority of Americans dislike the term ‘feminism,’ but overwhelmingly support equal rights on all issues for women, including equal pay in the workplace. Also, for the first time in history, 50 percent of Americans claim to be ‘pro-choice,’ while 44 percent say they are ‘pro-life.’
78 percent of Americans want to see ‘Citizens United’ overturned by the Supreme Court. Most of us believe that the amount of money spent on campaigns is a travesty.
This week, a group calling themselves ‘Democracy Spring’ has been protesting in Washington, the focus is Citizens United. Nearly 150 Americans have been arrested for reasons which are somewhat vague. I must inform those of you who don’t read frequently, that during TEA Party protests against the Affordable Care Act, not a single individual was arrested. Is it possible that because Congress is in the control of Republicans that these individuals are treated in a less compassionate manner?
Recently departed Antonin Scalia was the driving force to uphold Citizens United. His extremist right wing views dominated the hearings, and went as far as calling corporations ‘people.’ This was typical for Scalia, who was praised by the major media for his protection of special interests, and his dismissal of the working class.
So why were these peaceful Americans denied their first amendment rights? They speak the truth, and Republicans can’t handle the truth.
All of the issues I discussed are favored by most Americans, but GOP politicians refuse to review the wishes of voters and constantly tell the American people what to believe. They are liars.
Remember this when you go to the polls in November. Can you trust Trump or Cruz? Consider Trump’s lack of qualifications, and consider the same regarding Cruz, but factor in his revolting record in the senate.
Take back your country; Congress is supposed to serve the people; not we, them.
