Conservative Extremists Seek Death for the American Government

Ryan

Once again a small group of extremists who pretend to be members of the Republican Party are attempting to destroy the government of the United States. The TEA Party or Freedom Caucus is encouraging GOP leaders to do absolutely nothing until after the November election. So, what’s new?

We know that Mitch McConnell will capitulate to the minority, but what will Paul Ryan do? Will he follow his predecessor, John Boehner, and fail to accomplish anything for the rest of 2016, denying the needs of the American people? Is he just another tool of the failed Republican Party?

A conservative group has denounced inaction by a ‘lame duck’ congress, and are urging Republicans to do their job and serve the American people.

“At a time when the American people’s trust in their government is near an all-time low, the Republican-led Congress should demonstrate exemplary behavior by completing its work before the November elections so that voters can judge all the legislators on the basis of the votes they have cast,” conservative leaders wrote Thursday in a letter to McConnell and Ryan.

The letter was written by several conspicuous conservatives, including members of Ronald Reagan’s administration.

The letter advises that Congress should complete its work before the November 8th general elections, “because legislators who have been defeated in an election or are retiring are no longer accountable to the voters for their votes, any actions taken which required their votes are essentially undemocratic.”

The question is ‘will McConnell finally listen to those who are demonstrating intelligence and do something?’ He has failed the American people for more than seven years, and continues to be the lead obstructionist in the Republican Party today.

Our government must ‘work,’ and I mean that literally. Congress must no longer accept their wages from the American people and ‘kick-backs’ from lobbyists, enjoying lives of privilege and luxury, while refusing to perform the jobs for which they were elected. They owe us, but from their inaction it appears that they believe that we owe them a superior lifestyle without earning it.

The most important part of that letter is that those who seek our vote must be judged on performance, not party affiliation. This would be beneficial not only to the American people, but also to the Republican Party. Because the TEA Party or ‘Freedom Caucus’ leads the ‘party of no,’ their lack of accomplishment would see them lose their ‘cushy’ jobs.

Our system of government cannot work without two parties who deliberate honestly and find compromise on the issues important to all Americans. Extremism is destructive and a force for evil rather than good. No nation can exist when those who govern fail to diligently perform their jobs.
