America cannot afford to have an extremist leading our nation. Only policies which are inclusive serve the majority of our nation’s people. Donald Trump is a buffoon, but Ted Cruz is dangerous. He is the most extreme member of the TEA Party, and in multiple areas of his beliefs.
Cruz would destroy our nation’s economy by supporting the one-percent, all the while denying the needs of the majority. He would make the same rash judgment as George W. Bush and rush our nation to another unwinnable war in the Middle East. He has admitted that he would place his “Christian faith” above the United States of America, although he does not believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. His goals would be to repeal all social programs, raise the defense budget, ban all abortions, defund Planned Parenthood, eliminate the federal minimum wage, and institute Christianity as our national religion.
Thankfully, yesterday’s primary in New York, our third most populated state, proves that Cruz is unelectable. He received just 14 percent of the vote, and even lost to Ben Carson in one district.
Cruz represents two groups; the one-percent, and evangelists. He is disliked by his own party, and has proven that he is not qualified to be our nation’s president by his actions in the senate.
The nation’s largest state by population is California, and he cannot win there either. Its primary takes place on June 7th, and at the present Trump has a 10-point margin, although that number is expected to rise as Trump’s campaign gains momentum with expected wins in the near future.
Nationally, Hillary Clinton holds an edge over both Trump and Cruz, but the polling will not reveal convincing numbers until both parties have selected their nominees.
The only group which really matters in 2016 are Independents. The number of those who claim no party affiliation has risen to a historical number of 43 percent, according to a Gallup poll. Cruz has openly stated that he is ignoring this voting bloc. Now I have always known that Cruz is not the ‘sharpest tool in the shed,’ but to ignore 43 percent of America voters will guarantee a loss in November, should he win the GOP nomination.
This is what has destroyed the Republican Party, and it’s not Donald Trump. Republican leadership continues to rely on its ‘base’ to win elections, and ignore growing demographics such as minorities, women, and younger voters. The last two compose much of the 43 percent who claim to be Independents. The GOP is out of touch with most Americans, and has been the driving force which created “Trumpenstein.”
The truth is that only John Kasich has an opportunity to challenge Hillary Clinton, but he lacks the support of the Republican establishment. This too confounds me. Republicans hate Cruz, but support him over Kasich. What is wrong with the party I once respected?
According to the polls, Cruz will once again experience a resounding defeat six days from now in Pennsylvania. Better now than later. He would be an embarrassment for the entire Republican electorate if he was selected to defeat Clinton.
