Megyn Kelly has finally become a well-known FOX Noise pundit. She was virtually an unknown until last August when she was ordered to make a serious attempt to derail Donald Trump during the first faux-debate. The exchange between Kelly and Trump, as she attempted to attack him personally instead of politically, accomplished two things; Trump’s numbers rose in the polls, and she became a nationally known celebrity.
We must all remember one thing; Kelly is an entertainer, not a journalist. Roger Ailes, the President of FOX Noise did not hire her to report factual events or conduct revealing interviews. Kelly was merely a pretty face with average intelligence who would further the Republican cause. She performed well, but reached her pinnacle when Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the RNC, and Roger Ailes conspired to focus the August 6th event on Trump, and virtually ignore the other presidential hopefuls.
After that debacle, she has received mainstream media attention, some of whom have presented her as a valid journalist. She lied and made false claims that FOX was “fair and balanced,” and that she had no intentions of attacking Trump personally.
Her efforts now have been directed at Hillary Clinton, the candidate feared most by mainstream Republicans. On her show, the “Kelly File,” she was interviewing the Chairman of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Kelly attempted to portray Ms. Clinton as a candidate with ‘record negatives.’ She claimed that her weakest demographic was with men, where she stated that 72 percent would not support former Secretary of State.
Wasserman Schultz pointed to what will happen after the conventions, and how enthusiasm and the issues will convince the majority to support Ms. Clinton.
Wasserman Schultz also noted that ongoing “civil war” in which the Republican Party is “mired” is good for Democrats, because while “they’re still fighting, we’re getting ready to make sure we’re prepared for the general election.”
Kelly once again failed to offer support for Republican candidates who have relied on events filled with loud rhetoric and attacks, while offering no substance.
Kelly has focused for years on the GOP and has no understanding of politics. She supports extremes and joins the right wing as she ignores the ‘real America.’
Throughout my entire life I have supported equality for women in all things, and that is why I am angry with the media for allowing Kelly to lie and mislead the American people. True equality means equal treatment whether the individual is male or female.
A couple of weeks ago, Charlie Rose, who I respect as an excellent interviewer, talked to Kelly. He disappointed me as he allowed her to lie and misdirect the conversation. She once again offered FOX’ false claim that it is ‘fair and balanced.’ She also said that she had not intended to attack Trump personally during the debate, which was an obvious fallacy to anyone who actually watched the farce.
I miss Tim Russert.
Bill O’Reilly is FOX’ leading entertainer, but in the months since the battle between Kelly and Trump began, his ratings have declined while hers have risen. Now she is threatening to leave FOX unless she receives a salary comparable to that of O’Reilly.
Good luck finding a job at a network which offers actual news.
