Note to Ted Cruz: “If you Were a Great Candidate, You Would Stop Blaming Your Failures on Others”

Cruz

I have not, and never will deny the fact that I despise Ted Cruz, even more vehemently than Donald Trump. He has earned my disrespect due to an attitude of arrogance, and his efforts to destroy our system of government.

For 240 years those who have pursued seats in Congress were aware of the effort required of them to work within the system for the benefit of their constituents. Those who lacked the intelligence to understand that they could not change Washington became one-term politicians. Working to improve the system is the only goal which has an opportunity to succeed. Our Democratic Republic was designed by our founding fathers. Voting rights was their prime concern when writing the first amendment.

Our forefather’s intention was simple; the people would elect those who would represent their needs, and those Congressmen and Senators would legislate based on the needs and wishes of their supporters. That was then; this is now.

Cruz is the epitome of an elected official who fails to represent the American people. During his first year in the Senate, 2013, he led the effort to ‘shut down’ our government because he ‘didn’t get his way.’ He has consistently worked to destroy social programs for the needy; denounced women’s rights; displayed a high level of homophobia; and placed Christianity above the United States and all Americans. He made concerted efforts to repeal funding for Planned Parenthood which would eliminate reproductive healthcare for millions of low-income and impoverished women. He attempted once again to shut down the government if it did not agree with him. He failed.

Cruz is a poor choice for the Republican Party, and a danger to America’s future. If he was a serious and qualified candidate, he would cease blaming Donald Trump, FOX Noise, and others for problems he, himself, has created.

Last week Cruz was chastised by FOX’s Sean Hannity for repeating a single mantra regarding Trump. This was Cruz’ response to the media:

“I’m not going to worry about who they’re rooting for and what surrogates they put on and what messages they push,” Cruz said. “I’m gonna focus on my own positive message.”

Senator Cruz, you do not know the meaning of ‘positive’ as proven by your actions; words are cheap. You have not discussed the issues most important to the American people, but you have promised to eliminate the positive actions of the last 60 years. Your only reference to issues important to the majority is just that; a reference. You have not offered solutions; only hyperbole.

The two items you actually offered statements about are taxes and ISIS. Both were heavily denounced by experts. They stated that your tax plan would be a gift to the wealthy, widen the gap of income inequality, and increase the deficit. Your plan to ‘carpet bomb’ ISIS has been debunked by military experts. Carpet bombing makes targets of innocent women and children and is ineffectual as an attempt to destroy the enemy. Cruz has obviously not read the history of Vietnam.

Senator Cruz, face the truth; your failures are your own. Trump is crushing you in the area of voter support. If you are gifted the nomination at the convention in July, you cannot, and must not win the general election.

The majority of the policies begun by President Obama must continue or our nation will fall into another recession. Austerity is not good fiscal policy.
