The right wing of the United States government is the only group in the developed world which denies scientific fact. Either the entire Republican Party is ignorant, or they have another motive for their rejection of facts. Could be this ‘motive’ be support of special interests who are the largest polluters of our environment?
The GOP position on scientific fact is demonstrated by a former presidential candidate and surgeon who said: “Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.” Ben Carson, denying the proven fact that homosexuals are born, not made.
Although they attempt to masquerade the facts. Republicans oppose same-sex marriage in an attempt to retain an entire voting bloc; the Christian religious right. The same is true regarding legal abortion. These are the results of the GOP’s denial that homosexuality is normal and that women should have a right to decide what is best for their own bodies, not men.
Denial of climate change caused by man by the Republican Party may be the cause of an actual Armageddon. Although 95 percent of the world’s scientists agree that the situation is dire, Republicans claim that they deny the science, when in reality the effort is in support of their owners, the one-percent.
The right wing also claims that evolution is a fairy tale and support the most fantasized tale in the bible about Adam and Eve. It matters little to them that scientists have fossils and other proof of the evolution of man from the sea.
The corrupt FDA aligns itself with conservatives in its support of GMOs. Although 60 nations around the world either forbid the use of GMOs in the manufacture of their food supply or require labeling. The FDA and Republicans claim that they pose no danger to the health of humans.
This denial of science is the most ignorant example of a failed political party. Just as with its support of the NRA, profits for big business trump the safety and future of the American people. Comingling religion and politics has proven to be the most dangerous action taken by the right wing, and has created ‘hot-button’ issues in the political field which should never have been included in our system of government.
When common sense is replaced by ambition, the people suffer. Those who support the GOP choose to be ignorant. Aligning themselves with one party is the prime reason why our nation is moving backwards physically and philosophically, and failing to move forward with the rest of the developed world.
These are reasons why the United States has been rated 14th in quality of life for its people.
