Trump’s Campaign Only Exposed the Facts About the GOP

Politicians

For the Republican Party, the latest poll of registered voters across America is frightening; and the party’s leadership has no one to blame but themselves.

If the poll is accurate, only the most loyal GOP voters will go to the polls and vote for the Republican candidate.

In October, 37% viewed the Republican Party favorably and 58% unfavorably. As of today the numbers are more dismal: Only 33 percent have faith in Republicans, and 62 percent view the GOP as unfavorable.

Because it is standard practice by Republicans to avoid acceptance for their mistakes, the GOP establishment will not take the blame for this situation. Instead they seek to insist Donald Trump is the reason for the party’s implosion.

Who is the real Donald Trump? He is a Republican who has been welcomed at GOP events to speak about the evils of Democrats. With the exception of this campaign season, he has been a motivational speaker at CPAC. His rants received enormous applause and was a favorite of the attendees.

Today Republican leadership seeks his destruction. It’s not because he has failed to inspire GOP voters; his poll numbers are near 50 percent. It is because he has exposed the party’s philosophy and prejudices.

There is virtually no difference between Trump and his closest rival, Ted Cruz. Cruz is an Islamophobe and a religious extremist. Cruz has made concerted efforts to restrict minority voters from casting their ballots. He shares the same bigotry as Trump, but refuses to vocalize the truth.

The establishment is angry at Trump for revealing the truth. Now statistics reveal that Republicans will not receive the votes of several demographics, including minorities, women, millennials, and Independents.

The latter may be the most telling. Independents decide the outcome of elections, and, unlike party loyalists, vet the candidates before casting their ballots.

Nothing can immediately be done to reverse the polls revealing voter’s distaste for Republicans. The party must be rebuilt and find true leadership which will move the party forward instead of into the past.
