On June 7th, California will hold its primary. If and when Donald Trump campaigns again in the “Golden State,” the protests will likely be more boisterous and violent than on his most recent trip to the state. Now that he is certain to be the Republican nominee, the millions of individuals he has slandered will become even more belligerent.
The last nine months have been like no other campaign season in our nation’s history; and I hope we never see anything like it again. It has exposed the worst of America and its people. A once ‘shining star’ in the international community, the United States has been exposed as a less than great nation. Negatives once believed by our enemies have been proven. Our allies are now fully aware that they have a greater respect and compassion for their own people than does the government of the United States.
If the very fact that an ingenuous, hate-filled, and unprincipled charlatan will be representing one of our two major parties does not fill you with utter disgust, you don’t deserve to call yourself an American.
Our nation will witness a campaign which will continue to not only deny our Constitution, but be filled with name-calling, lies, and angry rhetoric; his only hope to maintain his support from Republican voters who think in the same manner. Donald Trump will be the first un-American to run under the flag of the United States of America.
Trump will be credited with one fact; clear thinking, honest, and hardworking Americans will rally together to defeat a common enemy, regardless of their ethnicity, economic status, or color of their skin. Defeating Trump will have a similarity to the manner in which our nation united during WWII. Sadly, Trump is nearly as dangerous to the American people and the future of our nation as Nazi Germany. His belief in freedom and equality for the few, and his disdain for many, is his weakness, and a more united America will defeat him.
With a lack of support from nearly every demographic, Trump will be forced to return to his golden palace in the Trump Tower, just as have other memorable despots in the past.
