Yesterday, several true Republicans questioned the candidacy of Donald Trump. Paul Ryan said he ‘needed some time’ to make a decision whether or not to support the presumptive Republican nominee. Yesterday, Mitt Romney, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush announced their intentions to abstain from the Republican convention in July. Last month John McCain revealed his decision to do the same. What does this say about the 2016 election, and the party in general?
As a man who believes in the principles of those who founded the United States of America, I believe that if you care about our nation, you cannot vote for Donald Trump. He does not represent all of our nation’s people, and does not believe in the country of Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, or Adams.
Many in the Republican Party who vehemently denounced Trump previously, now claim that they will support “Trumpenstein.” They are nothing less than hypocrites. More importantly, they are traitors to our nation. Voting for an individual they know is unqualified and a danger to our way of life is unforgivable; voting for a party and not supporting the best interests of the people is criminal.
When a nation’s leaders place a political party ahead of the welfare of a nation, that nation’s future is perilous. When one party supports a candidate who is openly racist and bigoted, and could be the leader of the free world, that party exhibits its disdain for the people of their nation.
History will tell an embarrassing and sad story about the 2016 election season. Nothing can compare to his year’s debacle. Who is to blame for this disgusting situation?
The answer is simple. It begins last summer when the Republican offered the nation 17 candidates; all of which lacked sufficient qualifications to become the President of the United States. This was the cause and effect of failed leadership during the last decade. The weakness of the GOP was revealed by the first debate on August 6th. Seventeen passengers in the clown car bickered like children and offered no substantive discussion.
Trump is not the cause of division within the Republican Party, he is the creation of years of failure. Voters have been angry with our nation’s ‘do nothing’ government for years, and this resulted in “Trumpenstein.” Washington ignored the will of the people, and now those people are using their only power. They refused to vote for those who caused gridlock in Washington. One by one the guilty were forced to suspend their campaigns; and now we are left with the worst possible candidate the GOP could offer.
I fear that many who claim that they will not support Trump in November will capitulate and drink the Kool-Aid. The Republican Party is unified, and not in a good way. They always vote party first, regardless of their slogans. They do not care about the future of our nation and its people; the party is their only concern.
If you believe that any candidate who supports Trump is worthy of your vote, I want to know why. Patriots do not vote for traitors.
