Listening to political pundits and reading dozens of opinions, we are led to believe that unifying the Republican Party behind Donald Trump is nearly impossible. The truth is that it is all an illusion; a ploy to convince voters that Trump is a legitimate candidate.
The GOP is consistent in the fact that it places the party before the United States of America, and regardless of a Republican’s lack of qualifications or morality, they will support that individual because there is an “R” next to his or her name on the ballot. They have no concern regarding the future of our nation or the welfare of its people. Nothing matters with the exception of victory for the Republican Party.
Trump will have the full support of party members and Republican voters before the convention in July. The precedent was set sixteen years ago when it supported George W. Bush instead of John McCain. Then, in 2008 Republicans supported McCain, knowing that his running mate, Sarah Palin was the worst possible choice, and was only a heartbeat away from living in the White House.
Republicans fail to ‘do the right thing’ ninety-nine percent of the time; their devotion to the party is the only priority.
It’s impossible for me to believe that all Republicans are ignorant. Some must believe in the Constitution, and have principles and progressive ideas. There must be hundreds of thousands who believe in sensible immigration reform, and have compassion for nearly 12 million men, women, and children in limbo. Not all members of the GOP can possibly be Islamophobes. Religions are all cults, and are all guilty of having extremists in their midst. I refuse to believe that all Republicans hate the LGBT community. Some of them must have homosexual family members and friends, and believe that they are equal to heterosexuals and should have the same rights. I am certain than many Republicans value the women in their families and circle of friends, believing that they should be allowed to make their own decision regarding their physical well-being.
None of the previous statement matters; when it comes to elections, they have but a single mind; there can be no individuality, and they must all agree on the issues. True Republicans are not allowed to think for themselves.
This year there is an exception; Donald Trump. He disagrees with the ‘party line’ on several issues. But he will have the full support of the GOP before July 18th.
For the future of our nation, the voting public cannot allow a Republican victory in November. We must follow the lead of the RNC as it attempted to derail Trump’s campaign. A self-proclaimed “Il Duce” cannot be allowed to soil the steps of the White House.
The most important reason why I will remain an Independent is that I am allowed to use the brain I was given at birth. I am not required to vote for a party. I vet each candidate and make a choice based on qualifications and ideas.
Join me; it’s much more fun, and it will make you appear far more intelligent.
