North Carolina’s bathroom law contains other provisions which make it not only homophobic, but racist. Republican elitists in the state government are attempting a new form of slavery, by maintaining or increasing the level of poverty in their state.
It began with a lie; women and girls were endangered by transsexuals who used their restrooms. This has never happened, but Governor McCrory insists that the danger is present. The truth is that after the Supreme Court upheld the rights of the LGBT community to marry, red states have been passing anti-gay legislation at a rapid pace, based on fallacious religious beliefs. But there’s more to North Carolina’s attack; it’s not only about the gay community.
The law reversed a Charlotte ordinance which gave certain equal rights to the LGBT community, but it also forbids local and city governments from establishing a higher minimum wage. In addition, it limits the ability of those harmed by bigoted businesses and individual from introduce lawsuits based on discrimination. It also protects portions of the law, even if other segments are struck down by the courts.
This law is intended to attack the LGBT community and insure that minorities and other poor North Carolinians remain in the poverty level working in low income employment.
McCrory and his stooges have already guaranteed the loss of thousands of good jobs as five major companies have removed their business from the state. In addition, the NBA is considering the cancellation of a future All-Star game in the state.
Governments are all bad, but some are worse than others. North Carolina voters must live with their choices. Electing racist, bigoted, and homophobic men and women will only lead to unemployment, and a decrease in public services as the state’s finances dwindle.
Once again this is an example of the idiocy of voting for a party instead of individuals. If voters fail to elect the best and most qualified candidates this is what happens. Casting ballots based on emotions instead of intellect will be destructive.
So, North Carolinians, you get who you vote for. I’m just glad it’s your problem and not mine.
