During this extraordinarily long campaign season, we have learned one thing; Donald Trump lives in a different world, maybe universe, then the rest of the American people. Everything in his life is “huge,” “the greatest,” “the best,” and “the biggest.” Anyone who criticizes him is an “idiot,” “a moron,” or “a loser.” He answers to no one, and claims to be “smarter” than everyone else in the world.
His slogan, “Make America Great Again,” sounds good, until you analyze what ‘great’ means to Trump. Trump’s rash statements would translate into rash decisions. His plan to solve the immigration problem is to deport nearly 12 million men, women, and children, which would cost hundreds of billions of dollars. Then, he would build a wall, which would cost an estimated 100 million dollars, and would fail to accomplish his goal. The idea that Mexico would be forced to pay for the wall is simply a farce.
Trump would ban all Muslims from our nation, and a witch hunt would begin inside our shores as bigots increased their attacks on Muslim-Americans. Those of us who believe in the first amendment would riot in support of freedom of religion.
Although his rhetoric claims that he would bring back jobs outsourced to other nations, we must remember that he is a billionaire; a member of the one-percent. He will not risk his fortune for the benefit of the American people.
Trump claims that he will ‘fix’ all of our nation’s ills without offering concrete solutions. “We’ll make it better;” “we’re gonna fix that;” “we’re gonna win so much, you’ll get tired of winning:” these are some of Trump’s ‘solutions.’
The most frightening fact about Trump is his complete lack of knowledge regarding international relations and national security.
When the recently elected Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, told an interviewer that he hoped Trump would lose the election in November because he is “somebody who is trying to divide, not just your communities in America but who is trying to divide America from the rest of the world,” Trump called him ‘rude.’ The ‘thin-skinned’ businessman had his feelings hurt because someone spoke the truth.
Prime Minister David Cameron called Trump’s proposed ban of all Muslims entering the United States “divisive, stupid and wrong.” Trump responded by stating that he hoped to have a good relationship with Cameron, but it seemed unlikely.
He continued: “Number one, I’m not stupid, okay? I can tell you that right now. Just the opposite. Number two, in terms of divisive, I don’t think I’m a divisive person, I’m a unifier, unlike our president now, I’m a unifier.”
This is Trump’s little world of fantasy combined with a life of privilege. His temperament alone denies him the right to become our nation’s president. His lack of knowledge relating to the history of our nation is unforgivable. To claim that President Obama is a divisive president is ludicrous. He is ignoring the eight long years of the Bush Administration which not only divided our nation’s people, but isolated our nation from much of the world.
Trump’s America is not the nation which raised me to believe in ‘freedom and justice for all,’ to have understanding and compassion for my fellow man, and to fight for the Constitutional rights of all men.
Trump’s lack of intellect, his inability to face reality, his temper, and his proclivity for violence define a man who is completely unqualified to become the ‘leader of the free world.’
