It is now evident that all of Alabama’s government is corrupt; but they are good Christians. Really?
Michael G. Hubbard, the speaker of the Alabama House in 2014, is entering a trial for ethics violations. Robert Bentley, the current governor, is under investigation for sexual harassment. The Chief Justice of Alabama’s Supreme Court, Roy Moore, is facing indictment for refusing to allow same-sex marriage in violation of a United States Supreme Court decision. Others will be questioned regarding their knowledge and participation in illegal activities.
Okay, let’s get right to it; Alabama must join Texas Republicans and vote to secede from the Union. You are not Americans. The Constitution means nothing to you. Besides, you would love the benefits; most black men, women, and children, as well as the LGBT community would migrate to other states and remain citizens of the United States. You would get exactly what you want; an all-white state, owned and operated by the Ku Klux Klan. You would be allowed to force all of your small country’s people to become Faux-Christians.
The American people do not need states which are racist, bigoted, homophobic, and misogynists. We do need patriotic Americans who believe in ‘liberty and justice for all.’ This is the 21st century, and there is no room for prejudice. Intolerance must become part of America’s past, not its future.
We need leaders who govern with positive attitudes and ideas, and believe in compassion, freedom, and equality for all of our nation’s people. The politics of fear must no longer be allowed to control voters. Moral character, qualifications, and support of the Constitution must be considered; not party membership.
It’s time that America grew up and joined the rest of the world’s developed nations. The people of our nation must be the priority, not corporate profits.
Americans complain about taxes; that is unrealistic and misguided. Taxes must be increased proportionately. Only the wealthy have a reason to protest taxes; they seek the ownership of another 40-million-dollar home in which they will never take residence.
Patriotism includes participating in the success of the nation, and paying for the privilege of conducting business in a capitalist society.
The people of Alabama elected Hubbard, Bentley, and Moore; they join North and South Carolina in support of corrupt politicians. However, they received what they wanted; all of them had an “R” next to their names on the ballot.
