The worst Senate Majority Leader in history, Mitch McConnell has the nerve to attack Nevada Democratic Senator Harry Reid. Although, as Majority Leader Reid has multiple accomplishments to his credit and McConnell none, “the Turtle” has made misleading statements about his rival.
“Harry is rhetorically challenged. If a scalpel will work, he picks up a meat ax. He also has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality,” McConnell writes, according to Politico.
“In person, Harry is thoughtful, friendly, and funny. But as soon as the cameras turn on or he’s offered a microphone, he becomes bombastic and unreasonable.”
What McConnell dislikes about Reid is what all Republicans cannot accept; the truth.
McConnell has demonstrated his inability to lead multiple times, as well as his racist attitude towards the President. In 2009 he stated that the only goal of the Republican Party was to insure that Mr. Obama was a one-term president. He demonstrated his hypocrisy when he denounced Reid’s accurate depiction of our 43rd President.
“[Reid had] called then-Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan a political hack and later decided to enlighten a group of sixty students by calling President Bush a loser during a speaking engagement at their high school,” McConnell writes.
McConnell continues his hypocrisy as he now endorses Donald Trump; a man he maintained must not be allowed to become the President of the United States.
McConnell is famous for making statements which are completely fallacious. After the midterm election in 2014, along with then Speaker John Boehner, he promised that with control of both houses Congress would ‘get to work’ for the American people. He lied. Not only has Congress once again failed to perform its function, McConnell has forbidden any action until after the November election.
His biggest failure has made our nation’s highest Court dysfunctional. He refuses to hold hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. The principle consideration for selecting a justice should be qualifications. Garland has been praised by members of both parties.
That’s not good enough for McConnell; he wants the next justice to be confirmed based on political affiliation. He seeks another extremist similar to Scalia. Why is he ignoring the wishes of our founding fathers that the Court remain free of politics? The answer is simple; McConnell places his party ahead of our nation and its people.
Congress became dysfunctional before McConnell became the Majority Leader, but is far worse now. He is incapable of performing the purpose for which he was elected by the ignorant voters of Kentucky.
The entirety of McConnell’s misleading remarks can be read in his memoir, “The Long Game: A Memoir,” to be released on May 31st.
