Trump’s three biggest promises which propelled him to the Republican nomination will never happen. As he claimed that he would ‘build a wall’ between Mexico and the United States, and force Mexico to pay for it, deport nearly 12 million undocumented residents, and ban Muslims from entering America, a crowd which shared his prejudices cheered wildly. Sorry, scumbags; it ain’t gonna happen.
Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, told CBS: “Well, one thing I’m pretty calm about is that this is nowhere near the most divisive period in American history. But what protects us in this country against big mistakes being made is the structure, the Constitution, the institutions. No matter how unusual a personality may be who gets elected to office, there are constraints in this country. You don’t get to do anything you want to.”
McConnell was responding to questions about his party’s nominee and some of his outrageous claims and promises. But here’s the problem. Why support Trump’s candidacy if you know he is bad for the country, a danger to the world, and will not be allowed to complete his agenda? McConnell is in effect saying: “Elect our candidate, but don’t worry, he can’t accomplish any of his outlandish ideas.” More Republican hypocrisy.
The most divisive period in our nation was during the Civil War; there is no question about that fact. The second was during the Bush 43 Administration, but if Trump were to win in November, his administration would move into second easily.
Trump has been great fodder for the late night television shows, but even they have ceased much of their ridicule aimed at the failed businessman. He’s not funny any longer, although he remains the caricature of all things ridiculous.
If Trump’s supporters seriously believe that he would be an adequate president, they are in need of mental healthcare. However, they won’t be able to afford it if he is elected; he has promised to remove health insurance from 20 million Americans.
How are they not intelligent enough to join the majority of Americans who are embarrassed and appalled that one of our two major parties has allowed a man to represent their party who hates everything which made America one of the great nations in the world? Why would they want a president who is entirely unqualified and has no knowledge about the workings of government? Maybe we should put them all in the middle of Texas and build a wall around them to protect our country.
McConnell will be pleased if Trump becomes our 45th president; he can continue his policy of doing nothing with the exception of guaranteeing no legislation will pass. But the big question is; would he support Trump’s nomination for the Supreme Court? What if it’s Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Chris Christie, or Ann Coulter?
There are some who believe that Lying Donald will select TEA Party extremist, Joni Ernst, as his running mate. The only reason would be an attempt to retrieve some of the women’s vote he has already lost. The problem with Ernst is that she’s another Sarah Palin, but with an IQ slightly above average, and has voted against all legislation protecting the rights of women. Gender check anyone?
