Trump Continues to Alienate Republicans

Martinez

Can we truly call Donald Trump a Republican? I see no similarity to actual Republicans from the past such as Ronald Reagan or George H.W. Bush, but I am also unable to compare him to the extremist party of today. Republicans who choose not to be hypocrites continue their refusal to support his presidency. Trump finds new ways each week to alienate legitimate Republicans.

His latest target is the only Hispanic Governor in the United States. Republican Susana Martinez is the leader of the state of New Mexico.

While campaigning in the nation’s most Hispanic state, he attacked Governor Martinez for the state’s unemployment rate, her position on federal food aid, and for failing to contain the Syrian refugee crisis. Most believe the real reason is that she has failed to endorse the megalomaniac. She did not attend the rally in Albuquerque, citing a ‘busy schedule.’

More than 70 percent of women voters, and a larger percentage of Hispanics, have voiced their disapproval of Donald Trump. Some believed that the selection of Martinez as his running mate would have solved two problems for the businessman. That is obviously now a passing consideration.

Martinez is popular in New Mexico, receiving praise from the state’s residents and politicos alike.

“Susana Martinez is a great governor, she turned deficits into surpluses, she cut taxes,” Paul Ryan told reporters this week.

Jeb Bush tweeted: Martinez is “the future of our party.”

But Trump did not back down: “Your governor has got to do a better job,” Trump said. “She’s not doing the job. Hey, maybe I’ll run for governor of New Mexico. I’ll get this place going.”

According to Trump, no one can accomplish anything other than himself. He denies his failed business dealings, bankruptcies, and the failure of Trump University. It is obvious that we cannot entrust the future of the United States to a “loser.”

Martinez has been a consistent when referring to Trump. Her parents are immigrants from Mexico. She disputed his claim that all undocumented residents from Mexico “bring drugs and crime and are rapists. More recently, Martinez said Trump’s plans for a bigger border wall would put trade relations with Mexico and other Latin American countries at risk.”

As Trump incurs a larger number of detractors within his own party, the convention in Cleveland becomes more interesting. Although I am certain Paul Ryan will eventually support his party’s unqualified candidate, he is not likely to offer his endorsement. He will be the chairman inside Quicken Loans Arena. Jeb Bush, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Mitt Romney refuse to join the hypocrites in their party; they will not attend the Convention.

In reality, Trump is not attempting to unite Republicans. Trump is being Trump and will likely self-destruct before November. The media has offered us false poll results. Polls of demographics reveal a lack of support by virtually every group with the exception of ‘less-educated white Americans.’

I’ve stated before that Independents will decide this year’s election. Republicans and Democrats will cancel each other out, unless there is a large crossover vote. If Trump does not receive the votes of all those who consistently vote for anyone with an “R” next to their name, his defeat is guaranteed.

I don’t believe that he will have the votes of anyone named ‘Martinez.’
