Here are a few headlines in today’s news from Republicans. They are all lies, and demonstrate how desperate the party of Donald Trump is in 2016.
“Mitch McConnell sees Republican Party ‘at an all-time high.’”
“McConnell: Trump ‘will not change the Republican Party.’”
“The alliance between Big Business and the Republican party is in shambles.”
“Republican Party Leading the Effort on Criminal Justice Reform.”
I really don’t think I have to elaborate; anyone who knows the Republican Party, especially Mitch McConnell, is aware that these headlines are all lies intended to deceive the American people; but I will.
If McConnell believes that the Republican Party is strong and united, he must be living in an alternate universe. The party is split into three factions, if not more, and is controlled by extremists and obstructionists such as McConnell, who have moved so far to the right that the party is dysfunctional.
The party was disjointed long before Republican leadership created “Trumpenstein” and failed to work in Congress to serve the voting public. Trump is only the manifestation of years of failure by the Republican establishment. McConnell was one of the first to reveal his hypocrisy. He denounced Trump, but now supports him. The only constant in the GOP is that party is the priority, not the nation and 320 million people.
Trump has changed the Republican Party. Although it has always been the party of racists, bigots, and misogynists, it is now open about these facts. Trump’s candidacy will force Republicans to address demographics other than wealthy, white, men and women who claim to be Christians.
If anyone believes that the GOP is not owned by big business, they know nothing about our government. Thanks to Citizens United, unlimited contributions are received by Republican candidates at all levels of government. Lobbyists control Congress, not the American people. Once in office, the Republican Party is the priority, and reelection their only goal.
All legislation proposed by Republicans serves the wealthy and the Christian religious right. The GOP refuses to tax the rich fairly, while seeking the demise of social programs needed by low income and impoverished Americans. Nothing has changed, and it never will.
The Republican standard bearer, Donald Trump, is himself a member of the one-percent, and his “tax plan” reflects this truth.
Thanks to support by the Republicans, the Christian religious right has introduced issues into our political system which have no relationship to government. They are in violation of the first amendment, but no one seems to care.
Now for the most ridiculous headline of all. Republicans do not want any form of judicial reform. Laws protect their owners, the wealthiest of Americans, while they unfairly punish minorities and the poor. Blacks are treated differently than whites by law enforcement, a fact denied by the GOP and its propaganda machine FOX Noise. Simply another lie in a desperate attempt by Republicans to mislead the American people into believing that they serve the majority.
My grandfather told me many years ago not to believe everything I hear or read; that can also include what we see on television. The reason Republicans are stuck with the worst candidate for president in American history is because they failed to change. They are divided because the GOP has moved so far to the right it has no resemblance to the Republican Party of old. It is the reason our democracy has been destroyed.
Republicans remain the party of the wealthy and protect their interests. As long as a single lobbyist remains in Washington, the working class will be ignored.
