I’m old, but I still dream. In 2012 Donald Trump endorsed Newt Gingrich for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination. FOX Noise today speculated that Trump may select the former failed Speaker of the House as his running mate. Could this really happen? Is the GOP willing to gift the presidency to Hillary Clinton, and add further embarrassment to their party? Please “make it so, number one.”
A ticket with the names Trump and Gingrich would become a bad vaudeville show. Two disgusting old white men with six marriages between them. Two men who have displayed multiple prejudices and disgraced their professions. One man who was removed from office by his own party for allegations of criminal misconduct, and one who is experiencing lawsuits for business malpractice. Both men use fear and vulgarity to attack their opponents, as they lie to their supporters.
We’re beginning to learn much more about Trump now that he is the presumptive nominee; and it’s not good. Between now and November he will be completely exposed to all Americans as they learn what some of us know today.
Gingrich’s past would be revisited. His criminal activities as the Speaker of the House will be old news made current. His open affair with a woman while his wife lay dying in a hospital bed, suffering from cancer will reveal his lack of morality. All evils and misdeeds will once again be in the headlines.
Sometimes dreams come true. Personally I am afraid that Trump will be forced to choose a woman to stand beside him on the podium in Quicken Loans Arena. His favorability waiting among the largest voting bloc in our nation is below 30 percent.
One of Trump’s most likely choices will be Joni Ernst, who is a man in woman’s clothing. The Iowa Senator votes against women’s rights at every opportunity.
A second choice might be South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. The fact that she supported Ted Cruz, and her denouncement of Trump make the possibility highly unlikely.
His best choice would be the only Hispanic Governor in the United States; Susana Martinez. However, when Trump was stumping in New Mexico, she was ‘too busy’ to attend his rally. She would offer a partial solution to two of Trump’s biggest weaknesses.
Of course he always has the choice of Sarah Palin or Ann Coulter; but that too would make my dreams come true, and it will never happen.
The more I consider a Trump/Gingrich ticket, the more I know that Armageddon is near.
