There is little excitement regarding today’s primaries in California, New Jersey, and four other states. Yesterday’s revelation that Hillary Clinton had reached the 2,383 delegates needed, removed the anticipation expected on another “Super Tuesday.”
The polls reveal that Clinton was leading Bernie Sanders by only two percentage points in California. However, in New Jersey her margin is over 20 points.
Trump is unopposed, but voter turnout may be the interesting statistic in California’s primary. A large Hispanic population opposed the businessman, and the San Diego Union-Tribune has suggested that Californians write in the name “Ronald Reagan” and not vote for Trump.
Both parties now have ‘presumptive nominees.’ All the media now talks about is party unification. Regardless of statements by RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus, the GOP will never truly unite behind Trump. Although the press continues to focus on the battle between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, they fail to tell the truth. The two candidates are aligned regarding almost every issue. Sanders’ continued efforts will only strengthen the Democratic Party, as they continue to talk about the issues and excite supporters.
My prediction for today is complicated.
If the media had not revealed Clinton’s presumptive win on Monday, a large voter turnout would have made the outcome of California’s contest unpredictable. The question now is ‘will voters go to the polls who support Clinton? If they do not, Sanders will win California, although it is now meaningless.
I am proud to be an Independent, but I am also proud of the Democratic Party. They offered the American people two extremely qualified candidates who stayed on topic and offered the American people solutions for our nation’s problems.
I am equally ashamed of the Republican Party. There were originally 17 passengers in the clown car, each of whom was unqualified to become the leader of the free world. They were such a poor offering that none one of the other 16 could defeat the worst candidate ever offered by any political party in “Trumpenstein.”
It just doesn’t matter who wins today, or who loses. Get ready for Trump’s plan of attack which is to denigrate Hillary Clinton. She has already exposed his temperament and lack of qualifications for the Presidency of the United States.
It is a long way to November; I’m already exhausted from this campaign season; it was fun in the beginning, but now it is simply tedious.
