Republicans have denounced the LGBT community in multiple ways, and blindly supported the second amendment, without concern for human life. Nothing could be sadder than when the two collided in Florida Saturday night/Sunday morning.
A gay night club was attacked by a lone gunman who had obviously planned the attack. In his possession were an assault rifle, a handgun, and other devices intended to kill those inside; military style weapons. He rushed inside of the club and began shooting at the crowd. Police hurried to the scene and killed the gunman, but not before at least 20 people were slaughtered, and 42 were injured.
The GOP has denounced same-sex marriage and several red states have passed discriminatory laws against the LGBT community. Republicans have incited hatred and prejudice towards a group which is non-violent, and poses no danger to the quality of life of others.
Orlando Police Chief, John Mina, is labeling the cowardly attack “domestic terrorism.”
Once again an individual with an assault rifle, a military weapon, has murdered numerous individuals. The American people must unite against the NRA gun lobby, and ban these types of weapons, and the high-output magazines which are used to fire numerous rounds in seconds. We must look at the laws in Australia, which have been extremely effective in deterring mass shootings.
The NRA would like us to believe that any change in our gun laws is a violation of the second amendment. Of all ten amendments to the Bill of Rights, this is the most ambiguous. Common sense must prevail over intentionally created emotional tirades.
Why does the Republican Party support homophobia and oppose protection for the American people by mandating comprehensive background checks and the banning of certain weapons of mass destruction? As I always say; “follow the money.”
The Christian religious right is the largest voting bloc in support of the Republican Party. Millions of dollars flow into their campaign chests to guarantee two issues, which should not be included in our political system; abortion, and the rights of the LGBT community to receive equal treatment under the law.
The NRA is one of the GOP’s largest supporters; vocally and financially. It is so brazen that it rates politicians according to their support of the organization, under the lie that they are supporting the ‘rights’ of the American people.
Fear tactics result in anger, and anger breeds hatred. The Republican Party’s damnation of the LGBT community has resulted in lethal actions by their weak-minded and brainwashed supporters. Their true god is money, and their actions prove that they have no interest in the safety of innocent people; profit before people.
Thankfully the Republican Party is in shambles, and may self-destruct. America cannot support a party which thrives on fear and hatred.
Stand up, America; stand up for the Constitutional rights of all Americans, not just the few. We need to focus our anger towards those who deserve it; the NRA and those who support a lobby whose only purpose is to increase the profits of gun manufacturers and gun sellers.
