America Needs the Republican Party, but Where is It?

Parties

Today’s Republican Party has either no ideas or unrealistic proposals for domestic and foreign policy. It once led the nation in support of diplomacy with a strong hand, but today it seeks war before discussion and compromise. Former great Republicans who held office in the past knew how serve the American people, and although they did not always agree with their constituents on the left side of the aisle, they deliberated and found compromise which served the majority.

Donald Trump is a man who chooses ignorance over substance. He has no interest in understanding the workings of government. His entire campaign is based on false accusation and character assassination. He is a member of the one-percent and has no ability to relate to the average American. What may be even more dangerous is that he has absolutely no understanding of foreign relations. He is the leader of the new Republican Party which is all rhetoric and lacks any form of substance.

Former GOP foreign policy advisors have displayed dismay about a Trump presidency, and support Hillary Clinton while discounting Donald Trump.

Brent Scowcroft was an advisor to two Republican presidents, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush, and announced that he is supporting Hillary Clinton for president.

In a statement, Scowcroft said Clinton “brings truly unique experience and perspective to the White House,” citing her time as secretary of State, as a U.S. senator and as first lady.

“She brings deep expertise in international affairs, and a sophisticated understanding of the world,” Scowcroft said. Nowhere in the statement did he allude to Clinton’s opponent, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. “I believe Hillary Clinton has the wisdom and experience to lead our country at this critical time,” the statement concluded.

Most Washington insiders expect Colin Powell to follow Scowcroft and endorses the abilities of Ms. Clinton as a knowledgeable and competent leader who has the ability to address our problems around the world.

Our nation desperately needs a true Republican Party; one that represents the greatness of American success. We must remember Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, (his first term), and George H. W. Bush. These are men who believe in America and fought for its future based on service to the majority.

Special interests own those who call themselves Republicans today. The American people are a third in their priority system. First comes the party, second are their owners, and third is a vague concern for our nation’s people.

We desperately need a revamped Republican Party. Democrats are not perfect as we Independents will attest. But we need Republicans who have values, morals, principles, and a true desire to serve the American people.

Our nation cannot exist as an oligarchy. A return to concerns for the majority must replace money. The United States is at a crossroads. A Trump presidency would move our nation towards a fascist society, and eventually force us into a plutocracy.

No time in American history has your vote become more important for the future of our nation. We must elect our first female president who has promised to work for the majority. A secondary effect will be to rebuild the Republican Party and hopefully return it to the Grand Old Party I remember in my youth.

Refuse to vote for a party; vote for yourself and your family.
