Now that Great Britain has seceded from the European Union, calling it “Brexit,” there is a renewed effort by Texas Republicans to exit the United States of America. Personally, it would be a dream come true for me. We would lose the most bigoted state in our nation and the most radical Senator in Ted Cruz. I’m too old to “party” any longer, but I would make an exception.
This was the statement made by Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement.
“The Texas Nationalist Movement is formally calling on the Texas governor to support a similar vote for Texans,” the group said on Friday. The office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott was not immediately available for comment. “Texit is in the air,” he said.
Oh no, this can’t be true. Will one of my ‘bucket list’ dreams come true? They brag about an economy based on one thing; oil. That will not last forever, and they either fail to know the facts or deny the truth. A last option is that they are just plain dumb.
Texas’ oil would become an import for the United States and applicable to fees not now forced upon the industry. Their citizens would be forced to Homeland Security requirements if they wanted to enter the United States. No federal aid would be given for highways and other government supported projects. Texas would not receive the protection of the United States military without an agreement, and Mexico could invade them at will.
No disaster relief would be offered to the “sovereign nation” without approval by Congress, and because they no longer have representation, it would be negotiable with paybacks required. Because Texas would finally have their way and all abortions would be illegal, unless the woman was wealthy, and blacks would not be allowed to vote, the hard-working residents to Texas would be forced to seek immigration to the United States.
The Texans, Cowboys, Mavericks, and Rangers would seek new owners in the United States. Airlines would be required to apply for flights to the new “nation.”
In addition to oil production, Texas would have only one other industry; executions. They may not be profitable or moral, but Texas is proud of their record.
The best news of all is that our country would no longer be forced to accept George W. Bush, Rick Perry, or Greg Abbott as American citizens.
If there is a god, I pray that he or she grants my wish and my beloved country is spared the idiocy of Texas. The only sorrow for the American people is that their collegiate football teams would only be allowed to play each other; they would no longer be members of American colleges and could not play in conferences designated for teams from the United States alone.
Britain will have many difficulties without the support of the remaining 28 nations in the European Union. The fun is just beginning.
No nation can survive in the world alone. Emotions are the guilty party for what will happen to the citizens of England. They will truly be on an island, and that island may sink at a faster rate than previously predicted.
