Before all other things, Mitt Romney is a Republican. Like most, his party comes before the future of the nation, and winning elections has more importance than the needs of people of our nation. He has been one of the first to state his belief that Donald Trump is bad for the party and bad for the nation. But he is also critical of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, saying that he will vote for no one this year. He has never impressed me with his intellect, and now he is claiming that he will not perform the action most important to our founding fathers; he will not cast his ballot and use his first amendment right.
He has been consistent criticizing Trump for his racism and lack of governmental knowledge. He leads one of the groups who opposes his nomination. I admire him for his principles while other “Republicans in name only” have displayed their hypocrisy by supporting the failed businessman. This is his truth.
But he also lied. Romney claims that he disagrees with Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders on the issues.
This year, he said, “it’s unfortunate that both on the left and right, Bernie Sanders has run a campaign that said all your problems, middle class Americans are because of those big banks and Wall Street… and on the right our nominee is saying, it’s these people here, it’s Mexicans coming across the border… it’s them and it’s Muslims… I’m afraid the things Mr. Trump has said has been unfortunate branding for our party…”
He is not entirely stupid, and is fully aware that Senator Sanders is 100 percent correct. Outrageous profits and unfair taxation have created an income disparity never seen before, while the middle class is disappearing. We are becoming a nation of extremes; the outrageously wealthy, and those living near or at the poverty level. Although Wall Street was entirely responsible for our nation’s great recession, not one executive was indicted for their crimes. Hillary Clinton’s policies are sound and her experience, both in foreign and domestic affairs, is unparalleled in our nation’s history. For Romney, the only bad thing about Clinton is that she is not a Republican. For voters, that’s a good thing. If she were a member of the GOP, she would not have concerns for the working class.
So, Romney is telling the truth when he denounces Trump, but lying about Hillary Clinton. She will be our 45th president and an excellent one, unless you disagree and support special interests above the majority of our nation’s people.
Because of the farce the 2016 campaign season offered the American people, the media fails to tell the truth; this is one of the most important elections in our nation’s history. To allow a buffoon to live in the White House could destroy our nation in a very short time. Serious problems exist both domestically and internationally. We cannot allow one individual to halt the recovery efforts of President Obama.
The Republican Party has failed the American people and relegated our two-party system null and void. All governments are bad; some worse than others. All political parties are destructive. Only Independent voters make good decisions; decisions based on qualification and ideas and not which political party others might favor.
