Though it is not surprising, and although it’s a bit unexpected, a group of Republican women have organized to encourage others to vote for Hillary Clinton and deny Trump the presidency. Among those attending the event at the St. Regis Hotel were a Mississippi-born Southern Baptist who got her start in GOP politics as an intern in the second Bush White House, and a conservative health care policy analyst who has volunteered for anti-abortion causes and a former president of the Cornell University College Republicans.
Is this the ‘year of the woman?’ Unlike many Republican men who have displayed their hypocrisy after claiming that they would not support Trump and completely reversed themselves, this group of women are placing the country first; (something John McCain once claimed to do, but is now voting for Trump).
If a group of male Republican politicians had not planned attacks on Hillary Clinton for the last seven-plus years, she would likely be an extremely favorable candidate. She is the most experienced presidential candidate in history, and her stand on the issues is unquestionably aligned with the majority of the American people.
“It’s really important that Republican leaders, especially Republican women leaders, stand up right now and say we’re not OK with Trump representing our party,” said Jennifer Lim, a group founder who works at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and has spent much of her life volunteering for Republican causes and campaigns. “This is not a position I ever wanted to find myself in. But it’s important that when things like this happen that people speak up.”
Ms. Lim has succinctly placed the concerns of our nation and its people into a single paragraph. Not only can true Republicans not allow their party to be represented by Trump, our nation cannot accept that a vile and unqualified individual could be the leader of our nation and the free world.
If you ignore the media ‘romance’ with Trump, you know that Trump has few supporters. Only those with like-minds; those who are also racist, bigoted, and xenophobic; are avid fans of the “orange clown.”
Throughout the 2016 campaign season, Trump has been the driver of the clown car; he has driven it into oblivion. The GOP is fractured beyond repair.
It will now be the responsibility of true and principled Republicans to rebuild the party, and what better place to start than with a group of women who are relying on intellect to lead them and shun the weakness of emotions?
They realize that the November election is critical to the future of our nation, and a pompous, self-serving egomaniac will not fill the needs required of our 45th president. Too many men in the party believe that ‘winning elections at all cost’ is the only item of importance; party first, country second. Sacrificing their very souls for one election is a damnable decision.
Intelligent leadership, which does not presently exist in the GOP, would begin planning for the 2020 election today. Trump is a lost cause, and even the most ignorant of Republicans is fully aware that he poses a danger to the very idea of the United States. Sadly, this will not happen with ineffectual “leaders” such as Reince Priebus, Paul Ryan, and Mitch McConnell.
