As usual, the mainstream media fails to offer real news to the American people. Above all else, there is a single effect of the creation of “Trumpenstein” which is possible and will affect the future of our nation for years to come.
As the standard bearer of the Republican Party, Trump has offended voters with his blatant racism and bigotry. Gains made in the midterm election in 2014 for the GOP are likely to be reversed in November.
After the midterm election, studies revealed a simple and unnerving fact. Democrats lost control of the senate due to disinterest from the voting public. Progressives are notorious for discounting elections which do not contain presidential candidates. This will likely reverse itself on November 8th.
Although Democrats are expected to gain some seats in the House. Barring a record voter turnout, Republicans will maintain control. However, if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, and the senate returns to Democrats, removing Mitch McConnell and his “do-nothing” policies, important legislation ignored for the previous seven-plus years may be addressed, and the House forced to stop “sitting on their hands” and perform the jobs for which they were elected.
Trump’s success and dominance of the GOP has affected not only America, but the whole world. In our nation, experts have claimed that a Trump presidency would destroy our economy, and place us in another unwinnable war, while increasing income inequality. Around the world people of other nations are frightened that because of Trump’s Islamophobia, the world would be less safe, and uprisings from terrorist groups such as ISIS would grow in number.
Whatever the outcome of the November election, one thing is certain; the Republican Party must rebuild itself. The damage done by ineffectual leadership, which created “Trumpenstein,” is irreparable without a complete reconstruction. New and talented leaders must be found. The TEA Party’s extremist methods of obstructionism must be quashed. The principles and ideals of past Republican leaders must return and insure that our government works for all the people once again.
Without a strong GOP which is composed of men and women with ideas and a passion for serving the American people, democracy cannot exist. The construction of our Democratic Republic was based on the belief that deliberation and compromise would best serve the citizens of our nation.
The importance of a working Congress cannot be undermined. Although the right wing has placed the blame on President Obama for our dysfunctional government, the truth is that the culprit is a Republican-led Congress.
Beginning in 2009, Mitch McConnell told the American people that Republicans would do nothing for the next four years, with the exception of insuring that Mr. Obama was a one-term president. Although the President won his second-term, McConnell kept his promise; he did nothing with the exception of preventing the passage of meaningful and necessary legislation. He continues to keep that promise today by refusing to conduct hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland.
If all goes as it should, and Hillary Clinton becomes our 45th president, Congress will be forced to work once again. Republicans will have had a “nice guy” living in the White House for eight years, (even if he was black), but he will be gone. Clinton does not plan to ‘play nice with others.’ She will call out the extremists who oppose America’s future, and our government will work once again.
