No Solution for Flint’s Water Crisis as More Money Spent on Investigation

Snyder (2)

A ‘State Administrative Board’ in Michigan, has granted an additional 3.4 million dollars to the investigation of Flint’s water disaster. This brings the total to 4.9 million; and nothing has been done to alleviate this serious problem.

Let’s offer some truth about the situation. Republican politicians in the state are attempting to cover-up a rash decision by their governor, Rick Snyder.

Snyder is another Republican governor who believes that ‘austerity measures’ solve economic problems. In other words, if you ignore them, they’ll just go away. To save the state money, he diverted water from the Detroit system, and replaced it with water acquired from the Flint River. When the mostly black community began to complain about the smell, taste, and color of the liquid coming out of their taps, testing revealed the fact that the Flint River water further corroded the aging system and released lead into the water supply.

Three years later, the problem continues to exist, with no solution in sight.

Snyder made a rash and poor decision without extensive research regarding the change in Flint’s water supply. He, and he alone is to blame. He signed the order to create the change. His attempt to save money will likely cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars to replace the ancient pipes in Flint.

Statistics prove that throughout our nation’s history, Democrats are superior with their handling of fiscal matters. When Ronald Reagan left office, his successor, George H. W. Bush inherited 10 percent unemployment and an eight-trillion-dollar deficit. Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. During his eight years in office he repaired the damage, and left office boasting a surplus for the nation. In eight years of a George W. Bush Administration, our nation was forced into a recession; the worst since the depression of 1929. President Obama inherited the worst possible situation, but tackled the problem with intelligence. Our economy is in recovery, and unemployment is hovering around five-percent.

Flint is about 250 miles away from Cleveland, Ohio. The Republican convention will be held there next week. They can expect angry Flint residents to be among the protesters outside of Quicken Loans Arena.
