The Republican Convention begins Monday in Cleveland. We know who won’t be attending or speaking at the “Trumpfest.” The last two Republican Presidents; George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush will be staying home along with younger brother, former Governor of Florida and presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush. The last two Republican Candidates for the presidency, John McCain, and Mitt Romney have declined to appear. Marco Rubio, a leadership favorite said ‘no thank you.’
Attending and speaking will be the ‘biggest losers’ in the Republican Party, and I’m not just speaking of Donald Trump.
Chris Christie, Mike Pence, Newt Gingrich, Ted Cruz, and Sarah Palin are all expected to pay tribute to the “orange man.” I would not be surprised if Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were also invited.
The latest to be anointed by Trump is Rudy Giuliani. Throughout the last week he has given homage to the failed businessman by proving that he joins his demagogue as a devout racist. His only accomplishment was as mayor of New York City when the cowardly attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred.
Trump’s supporters have no credentials to offer the American people. Throughout their careers they have proven that they are more concerned with their political future than their constituents. They represent the worst of our nation whose only concern is their own ambitions. The sole reason they support the worst and least qualified candidate in our nation’s history is to seek personal prestige and monetary enhancement. They are not true Americans and often reveal traitorous words and actions.
Let’s briefly analyze each of these Trump enthusiasts.
As an Independent I once considered Chris Christie a believer in America. He appeared to be a man who rejected political affiliation and supported the people of New Jersey. He has now revealed himself as an ambitious politician whose only concern is his political future. His poor choice to support Trump has sealed his future.
Mike Pence was the first Republican Governor to enact anti-gay legislation. His support of an unconstitutional group calling themselves the Christian religious right resulted in his designation as an enemy of the Constitution and a homophobe.
Newt Gingrich is a criminal, although his party saved him from prosecution. He was forced to resign as the Speaker of the House after a single count of ethics violations could not be ‘covered-up’ by his constituents.
Ted Cruz, the leader of the most extremist group in Washington, the TEA Party, has agreed to speak. Why? He wants to be the Republican Party’s candidate in 2020. He has a reputation as the most hated man in Washington, and his vicious battles with Trump in the primaries became an embarrassment for his party and our nation.
I have been unkind in my description of Sarah Palin in the past; and I do not apologize. She is a “blithering idiot.” She spews venom about those she claims are not Americans, when in fact she has no belief in the principles of our founding fathers. Her claim to be ‘Christian’ is laughable; she’s the least Christian person I have ever witnessed. She is judgmental and continues to spread hatred.
Trump is certainly proud of this group; like him they denounce America.
If anyone believes that this is the Republican Party of our fathers, they lack a knowledge of history, and are in denial of reality.
