When the television cameras are turned on tomorrow at the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia, the nation will immediately see a far different situation. The crowd will look like America. In the crowd will be people of color, and those taking the stage will be diverse as well. There will certainly be moments of “Trump bashing,” but there will also be discussion of the issues facing our nation, and promises to support women’s rights, all races, creeds, and religions.
There will be a great deal of focus on the economy; none of which existed at the Republican Convention. President Obama’s plans have rescued the nation from the recession caused by George W. Bush’s Administration, and any discussion regarding the economy would require an inclusion of the facts.
For 69 straight months, jobs were added in the business sector. The stock market hit record highs. Corporate profits rose. More than 20 million Americans obtained health insurance taking the burden off of the healthcare industry.
During the first three days, speakers from all demographics will take the stage. There will also be undocumented workers.
Leah Daughtry is the chief executive officer of the committee organizing the July 25-28 convention in Philadelphia. “The voices of our nation’s brave undocumented youth will be heard loud and clear,” Daughtry added.
I’m ‘sorry’ to tell you that the Democrats won’t have “Chachi,” or family members of “Duck Dynasty” on their stage. You’ll just have to settle for people you know and individuals who will speak intelligently. There won’t be an angry Rudy Giuliani, or a fallacious Newt Gingrich spewing their hatred and lies. You can’t have it all. There will not be a Ted Cruz to steal the convention for his own purposes.
Although the media would like you to believe that the convention will be divided, there is only a small truth in those assumptions.
I personally know avid Bernie Sanders supporters who told me that they will not vote for Hillary; but I’m not so sure. They are intelligent, and aware that Trump must not be allowed to infest the White House with racism and hatred. They also know that the issues Hillary and Bernie support are very close in content.
This will be ‘America’s Convention.’ It will not be for white Christians only. In addition, Hillary selected a religious man for her vice-president who is not an extremist. Tim Kaine supports all religions; that’s the American way.
Hillary probably won’t walk on stage before Thursday evening, and she won’t pass through a cloud of smoke, but she will tell you what she will do for our nation, and how. She will tell you how she will improve our nation for all of its citizens, not just a few. She will not predict “gloom and doom.”
