Democrats begin their convention Monday. They will forecast an America which can regain its respect and continue to move forward, thanks to President Obama’s efforts to reverse the failures of the presidency of George W. Bush. It will also define what a disaster a Donald Trump presidency would offer to our nation and the world.
Republican standard bearer, Donald Trump, identified the GOP as the party of ‘doom and gloom.’ Failing to talk about the future of America and focusing on the evil around the world, Trump attempted to use fear as a tool to obtain votes. He will fail.
Rush Limbaugh, the whitest man on earth, sees it all differently; big surprise. He claims that the Democratic convention will be “dark, abysmal, and apocalyptic.” Limbaugh bases his beliefs on a single fact; his extreme racism. He sees only one side of an issue which is at the center of our nation today.
“We are going to see at least six family members of people, supposedly innocent people gunned down, murdered by the cops. The cops are once again going to be portrayed as the enemy next week on the stage at the Democrat National Convention. Law enforcement is going to be held up as the enemy for the express purposes of rallying the votes of a bunch of people as a result of having told lie after lie to them, such as ‘hands up, don’t shoot,’” he said.
Limbaugh is ignoring the truth; as he always does. Black Lives Matter is a movement which became necessary when the authorities continued to ignore the violent actions by law enforcement against the black community. A situation which has existed for decades has been exposed thanks to the fact that nearly every American has a camera ready today. A small percentage of law enforcement is prejudiced towards the black community. BLM is calling for a reform of the judicial system, including comprehensive training of law enforcement officers which includes a psychological evaluation.
Limbaugh falsely claims that there is no problem; all cops are perfect. He was very pleased with Trump’s acceptance speech which supported white supremacy. Trump and Limbaugh share a single dream, “make America great again” by moving our nation backwards into the ‘bad old days of the 1950’s’ Black men and women would once again “know their place.” Women would be second-class citizens who would be subservient to their husbands. Homosexuals would still be “in the closet.”
This is their dream for America.
Trump’s ‘all-white’ convention will be contrasted by Democrats who will have speakers from all walks of life. Once and for all the Democratic Party will be proven to be ‘America’s party.’
Both Limbaugh and Trump are classic examples of what it means to be a Republican today. They are old, white, and angry. They dislike America today. Change is not acceptable.
Soon they will be but a bad memory. A new generation will be in power. This new group denounces racism, bigotry, misogyny, and homophobia. With them in charge, America has a chance to become ‘great.’
