Roger Ailes Defended by Trump: Is Sexual Harassment Acceptable?

Roger Ailes

We’ve learned a lot about Donald Trump’s true opinions regarding women, and I’m sure much more will come. Maybe his defense of Roger Ailes, former President of FOX Noise offers some insight.

Ailes has long been criticized by progressives for his “ratings first” attitude. The proof came when revelations that his biggest star, Bill O’Reilly, lied in his books and on his broadcast about his experiences in journalism. Ailes refused to even acknowledge the truth. The lack of character of both men was revealed.

Sadly, with an attempt to increase their own ratings, legitimate news networks began policies similar to FOX. Sensationalism sells advertising, and both exaggerations and omissions made their stories more interesting; at least for some uninformed Americans.

When former FOX star, Gretchen Carlson, accused Ailes of sexual harassment, the expected happened. Six additional former employees added their own complaints. A couple of days ago, the fake new network’s biggest female star, Megyn Kelly, claimed that she was the victim of sexual harassment by Ailes early in her career at FOX. As of today, 25 women have come forward. But Donald Trump claims that they are all lying.

“And now all of a sudden they’re saying these horrible things about him,” he continued. “It’s very sad. Because he’s a very good person. I’ve always found him to be just a very, very good person. And by the way, a very, very talented person. Look what he’s done. So I feel very badly.”

Trump claimed that Ailes had aided each one of the women in their careers. It’s interesting that he makes the same claim regarding his relationship with his own female employees. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

I’m sure that Trump is defending Bill Cosby as well. He cannot accept that even one of his accusers has been truthful.

I have read stories about Trump and women. The problem is that the major media is hiding them from the general public. Once again, it’s all about the ratings. Trump’s theatrics sell advertising, and morality quickly loses its importance.

Not a single member of the media has referred to a deposition taken during Trump’s divorce of his first wife, Ivana. She described a vicious attack by Trump as he pulled her hair and raped her. They had not had sexual relations for months.

Ivana later recanted her testimony. There was never a number released regarding the eventual settlement by the couple.

Make of it what you will. But Trump’s support of Ailes raising more questions. Maybe I’m wrong, but shouldn’t he be defending the women involved?

For decades, women failed to report unwanted sexual advances for fear of losing the jobs, or not receiving promotions. The most recent cases are involved with the military. Sadly, Republican men in Congress will not allow changes regarding how complaints pertaining to sexual harassment and sexual abuse are conducted. The military remains a “good ole boy’s club.”

Every time I read about Donald Trump, I find new reasons why he should not be allowed to live rent-free for four years.
